The Secret Of Sweet Cakes I know everyone loves eating cake. Most people preferred getting a cake at a groceries shop than doing it themselves or getting their cakes from any baker because they want a perfectly made cake. Cake is so simple and straight forward to bake. In this article am going to teach everyone on how to bake cake. We'll be looking at how to bake some types of cakes. You should be able to bake a sweet cake for your children and spouse. Children really loves cake. As we all know we have varieties of cakes:Sponge,Genoise,Pound,Chiffon,Vanilla,Carrot,Red velvet,Apple, Chocolate cake and the likes.... Am going to teach us how to bake 3 common cakes which are; 🍰. Vanilla cake 🍰. Chocolate cake 🍰. Red velvet cake
Before we begin, I want us to note that there are two main types of cake: a) Butter: (also known as a "Shortened cake"). Shortened cakes have either butter, oil or shortening in them (A classic yellow cake is a perfect example) b) Foam: foam cakes are more or less like sponge cakes. Foam cakes have little or no fat and typically involve whipped eggs (either white, yolk or both) which make them lighter or airer. The primary difference between these two cakes is the fat content. Do we understand this now? Okay....let's move to the kitchen.... **VANILLA CAKE** To start with Vanilla cake🍰
**INGREDIENTS** I want us to note those measurements 4 cups of Cake flour 2 cups of Granulated sugar 500g of Butter(2 Simas/Nappa) 8 large eggs 1 tablespoon of Baking powder 1 tablespoon of Vanilla extract 2 sachets of Powdered milk flavour 1 teaspoon of Salt **ILLUSTRATION** Preheat your oven to 350⁰F. Grease your size 8 cake pan with butter and pour in flour, shake well and pour out the remnant flour (this seamlessly helps the cake release from the pan)
In a large bowl, pour in sugar and butter. Using stand mixer, beat the sugar and butter on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 3 minutes.Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula and set aside. Get another 2 bowls, separate the egg yolk from egg white. Some people don't separate the yolk from egg white but I love to separate (Makes my cake more fluffy). Pour the egg yolk into the mixed butter and sugar and add vanilla extract. Sieve in flour, baking powder, powdered milk flavour and salt, then mix on a low speed just until combined. Always sieve the dry ingredients ooooo, they mostly have lumps) And finally, whisk the egg white until it's well foamy. With the mixer still running on low, pour in the whisked egg white and mix just until combined (You may need to whisk it all by hand to make sure there are no lumps at the bottom of the bowl. The batter will be slightly thick Pour batter into cake pan and bake for around 30-45minutes or until the cake is baked. To test for doneness, insert toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, then it's done. Allow cake to completely cool before trimming(to avoid breakage) and before frosting/decorating (to avoid melting) Hummmm yummy yummy 😍😍 **CHOCOLATE CAKE** Now we move to Chocolate Cake. Guess we all know why it's called chocolate? It because of it color and it comprises of cocoa powder. Okay let's see the ingredients we will be working with.
**INGREDIENTS** 4 cups of All purpose flour 2 cups of Granulated sugar teaspoon of Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder 2 cups of water 1 cup of vegetable oil 2 tablespoon of Distilled white vinegar 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract We can all see it's not almost same with Vanilla ingredients. **ILLUSTRATION** Cocoa powder is the key..It serves as colouring. Cowbell chocolate won't give you any result. Then no egg is involved here. Preheat oven to 350° F. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder. Boil your water. Then pour warm water, vegetable oil, vinegar and vanilla. Beat by hand until smooth. Pour in your batter into the pan and bake for 40minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center of the cake comes out clean. Your batter will be kind of watery Here comes your yummy Chocolate cake... **VELVET CAKE** Up to Red velvet cake.
INGREDIENTS 4 cups of flour Cup of Granulated sugar. Cup of natural unsweetened cocoa powder Sachet of powdered vanilla flavour Teaspoon of Baking soda 1 teaspoon of Salt 250gram of Butter 4 large eggs 1 cup of Vegetable oil 2 tablespoon of Red colouring 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract 1 tablespoon of Distilled white vinegar **ILLUSTRATION** Preheat oven to 350° F as usual. In a large bowl, whisk together the cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Then sieve the dry ingredients to remove any lumps of cocoa powder, then set aside. As instructed in Vanilla cake process, pour in sugar and butter. Using stand mixer, beat the sugar and butter on medium speed for 4-5minutes. Add the eggs and mix until fully combined, then mix in the oil,red colouring, vanilla extract and vinegar, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Now pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix well until just combined. Be careful not to over mix the batter. Pour the batter into cake pan and bang the pan on the floor/table 2-3 times to remove any air bubbles from the cake You could do the banging for vanilla and chocolate cake too. Bake cake for 25-35minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Finally, carefully remove from oven and place on the table to cool in the pan for 15-20minutes. Then, carefully remove the cake from the pan and place in a tray/board to cool completely. Hmmmm..... yummy yummy. Thanks for reading Love you all Like and comment plus practice.
