Dizziness or Benign Positional Vertigo There are many causes of dizziness. But a common cause is Benign Positional Vertigo. Often, severe dizziness starts with waking up in the morning where you suddenly sit up out of bed. The sudden movement of the head is the reason. It scares the patient but it is not dangerous. Benign Positional Vertigo is an ear problem. The vestibular system is in the ear where our balance and movement come from. If there is dirt or infection inside the ear (otolith), and it can cause severe dizziness. This pain lasts for several days. Here's what you can do: 1. Do not move the head. Just stand looking ahead. Do not turn or look back first. 2. Just open your eyes and look ahead. Do not go to sleep or close your eyes because you will be more dizzy. Just go to sleep at night. 3. Just watch TV all day so the eye can focus on the TV. Just sit all day and don’t lie down. 4. Just slowly stand up and walk towards the bathroom and you might lose your balance. Hold on to the companion or environment so as not to fall. 5. The medication for Vertigo is Betahistine 8 mg tablets, 3 times a day. Take the medicine for 3 days. 6. For those who vomit or cannot eat, take Oral Rehydrating Solution little by little to prevent dehydration. 7. When eating, keep looking ahead and do not go. Gently pour the food into the mouth. Can be porridge, banana and soft food. The same goes for drinking. Also do not tilt the head. 8. To sleep at night, use 3 pillows to keep your head high on the body.
