Asthma Solutions. Worldwide, 1 in 8 children has asthma and 1 in 13 adults has asthma. Asthma symptoms are difficulty breathing, coughing and wheezing. The chirping sounded “huuu-huuu,” as if it had a cat in its lungs. The cause of asthma is the inflammation and sensitivity of the small airways in our lungs (lung bronchioles). When an asthma attack strikes, sputum builds up in the lungs and the airways narrow, causing the patient to catch his breath. There is no permanent cure for asthma. But if you change your lifestyle, your asthma attack can be reduced by 50%. Here are the things to do: 1. Are there any allergies around? About 80% of people with asthma also have allergies. Think about what you did before the asthma attack. Are you tired, overheated, or sniffing something smelly? Write it in a diary. Avoid things that make you have asthma attacks. 2. Do you have food allergies? Food allergies are not as common (only about 8%) but they do occur. Beware of food preservatives, food coloring, gossip, alcohol, nuts, seafoods, eggs, chicken, and more. Find out which food you are allergic to and avoid it. 3. Be careful with medications. Someone is allergic to medications such as aspirin, penicillin and pain medications. Only paracetamol is safe for you. Consult a doctor before taking medication or any supplements. 4. Avoid pollen. When summer comes (March to June), a lot of pollen is released from trees and grasses. Wear a face mask. More pollen in the morning before 10am. 5. When it's winter, sometimes the bathroom gets mold and fungus because it's always wet. Dry the bathroom after bathing. 6. If you have a vacuum cleaner, use it to suck up dirt in the house. If possible, remove carpets and rugs as they are very prone to dust. 7. Stay away from pets. Bathe the pet dog every week. If possible, don't keep pets at home, because their tiny feathers are irritating. 8. Open the kitchen window. The strong smell of food can trigger asthma. The smoke and smell of cooked onions, garlic and fried foods are irritating. Install an exhaust fan or cook outdoors. #GoodAdvices
