I started editing the second of my Sci-fi series, The Generation. If you have not read, The Generation, it's available on Amazon. https://amzn.to/2Zurx5c The Existence is the continuation of where my characters left off. Enjoy! The Exsistence Chapter 1 A blinding bolt of lightning lit up the sky, followed by a loud crack of thunder, a warning that an angry storm was headed her way. Soon, the heavy rains came and a strong gust of wind appeared out of nowhere, nearly forcing her to the ground. She squinted through the downpour, her vision blurred, praying the road wasn’t much further. Another bolt of lightning struck, this time too close for comfort. She picked up her pace, running through the downpour, but the ground was soft enough that it gave way beneath her feet, surrounding her in complete darkness. Reaching out, she grasped at the crumbling soil, searching for something, anything that would keep her from slipping further into the darkness. But mother nature would not be so kind tonight. The soil that for one brief moment, had been a tiny desperation of hope, was now an oozing wall of muck that would be her end. She found herself slipping further and further into the darkness, into a cold nothingness, where death waited. Oh God, she was going to die. She closed her eyes and prayed for her death to be quick. It was at that moment when she heard a faint voice call down to her from above. "Hello? Is someone down there?" They were words, barely recognizable, but to her an answered prayer, a stranger willing to risk their life, to save her own. She found her voice from somewhere deep within. "Help me please." "Take my hand." A male voice answered. His words led her to reach up through the thick oozing mud, until the solid grasp of a strong masculine hand met hers. She felt herself being pulled out of the darkness to the surface above, until her feet connected with solid ground. Safe. Oh dear God, she was finally safe. Now, piercing blue eyes stared at her, eyes so familiar, she decided somehow, somewhere in that darkness, death had played a cruel trick and managed to call her name. "Sara?" It wasn't possible. It couldn't be. He was gone. Forever. Yet, the man, the man she had once known, once loved, stood before her, as real as the storm that had threatened her very existence. Those piercing blue eyes stared back, eyes that seemed to be searching for something until a sign of recognition fell across his face. "Sara, it is you!" He was no longer a stranger and that pain she had once known, the sting of tears that had fallen for months, her soul ripped in half, found its way back somehow. Had she screamed his name, she suddenly couldn't remember. "David!" She felt hot uncontrollable tears fall from her cheeks as her body collapsed against his and strong arms pulled her closer. Heaven help her if this was only a dream.
