The Secret To Life is About The Decisions We Make.
**Friday, 6th August** Firstly, I want to take the opportunity to say a huge Thank You to all that read, subscribed and upvoted my previous writeup. I'm immensely grateful and deeply appreciative of your support. It means a lot to me, so much more than you know.
For Today's read, I'm going to be sharing an experience with you all and I would like to share it with you all, and I would also like to share my thoughts about said experience too. As you read, please do well to drop your comments down below if you so choose. ~~~~~~~ The secret to life is about the decisions we make. Little, seemingly insignificant decisions that clear the road for a huge life-alterating ones. You see, every path you take leads to another choice, and some choices can change everything. Every moment of the rest of your life hangs on them. And I am a strong believer of this notion.
Some months ago; it was a Friday, I remember, because my mother had asked me to pick up her laundry that day. She needed her pant suit that had to be dry cleaned so it wouldn't get ruined for her business meeting. I had said I would go get it for her. This was back when she worked, now she's retired. Before I left, she advised me to take an umbrella along because she had an inkling that there would be a downpour. I shrugged it off thinking a feeling isn't a good enough reason to take an umbrella seeing as the sky was clear as day. So I made my way to the laundromat.
I got out of the cab and walked into the laundromat. While I was making sure the suit looked up to par it began to rain. I concluded my transaction with the dry cleaner and I turned to leave but I realised that my mom was right and I neglected to take the umbrella with me. Now, it was in the moment that fate comes into play, I guess. If I didn't offer to help my mom with her laundry and refused to take the umbrella, then I wouldn't be stuck in the laundromat. Maybe, I would've gone back home and by that time, my siblings would've been home; so she would be preparing for her departure to her business meeting leaving my siblings and I at home. We all would've played video games, watch a couple of movies and I would've probably made dinner, and nothing would've happened.
But I didn't take the umbrella; that's what matters. I saw him, running towards the laundromat. He was covering his head with his bag. He ran inside frazzled, closing the door behind him, took a few minutes to catch his breath, and shake the water off of him. He wasn't soaked, but a little water in that cold could send you to bed for days. He looked about my age. He dried himself up and waited with us in the laundromat for the rain to stop. I noticed the patrons of the laundromat and those who rushed in to wait out the downpour break out into smaller groups to interact with one another. And like that, they all started conversations. While they all talked up a storm, literally, I stared at the guy across the room from me who sat on one of the chairs in the corner and looked at the rain. I still remember. He was stunning.
His eyes were brown, like coffee brown. His hair was a clean tapered cut and so dark I was convinced it would disappear in the night. I remember him so well because I thought it was weird that after running from the rain, the first thing he did was to sit down, open his notepad and start scribbling. I didn't speak to him that day, I just watched him scribble around his notepad. You know, there's a thing about a guy across the room. You just see the guy across the room, you think he's composed; he's pensive and collected. But then, he looks at you and you are the woman across the room for him. *A/N: The point I'm trying to make from the story is that we live with the choices, and decisions we make however insignificant or life-alterating it may seem. Once we do make those choices, there's no going back. Sometimes, I still ask myself, what would have happened if I just walked up to him and just said "Hello". I mean, it was just as simple as that. Maybe he would have responded or ignored me. Maybe he would have been sweet or he would have been rude. Truth is, there is no way to know what could have happened. A little part of me still regrets not saying hello to him while a huge part of me knows that it must have been for the best. I'm able to live with the choice I made that day. Not many people can say that about their experience.* >>Good day everyone, I'm just glad to have the opportunity to share my writeup here.
