Happy Saturday to all. As you can see Baby got a good nights sleep. Last night she interrupted my sleep and wanted to eat at 2 o’clock this morning. She also ate breakfast again at around 7:30 this morning. She’s my little alarm clock. I couldn’t oversleep. She is now back to sleeping and I’m enjoying my time with my husband before he goes to work this afternoon. He has tomorrow off. I hope that you are all enjoying your day.
Baby has her night and day mixed up and was a sleepy head all day. Of course most days she sleeps a lot, but today she slept more then normal. Now it is nearly midnight and time for me to go to bed. I’ll see you tomorrow.
Tonight I have made fried cabbage and kielbasa for our dinner. I made a pan of cornbread for my husband and son. It is now time to eat. What are you having for dinner ?
Happy Friday to all of you. I’m not sure what the official name for this type of bridge is. Every since I was a child they have been called wishing bridges in my family. When you go across this bridge you put one finger to the roof of your vehicle and make a wish. This bridge is in West Virginia. Have any of you ever done this ?
I knew that the birds liked our dogs dry food , but apparently they like the wet food too. Our dog Coal doesn’t seem to mind sharing. A beautiful red male Cardinal flew away before I could get my camera on.
Good Thursday to you all. I wanted to share some more West Virginia pictures. Here is a photo of our street. Our home is at the top as the street flattens out. It’s quite a workout to walk up it. The next is our dear friend who lives across from us. He’ll be 94 on his next birthday. The last photo is an Indian Mound that is in the valley below us. It’s within walking distance.
I hope that you are all having a nice day.
This is the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia in the Appalachian Mountains. It’s located in New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. It’s the longest single span bridge in the world. It is 3,030 feet long and is 876 feet above the river. When the bridge was completed it reduced a 40 min drive to 1 min. Every year in October they have bridge day . On this day people bungee and base jump from the bridge. I’m afraid of heights, but driving across this bridge doesn’t frighten me. I think the beauty around it distracts me.
We have made it back to our Mississippi home safely. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in West Virginia and were sad to leave. We’ll probably go back the end of September.
I wanted to share a photo of the runaway truck ramp. They have these every so often on the the mountain roads. They are used to stop a truck that has lost control of their speed. I understand that they work and bring tucks to a stop. I’d think that a truck would flip over using them.
I hope that you are all having a nice weekend.
Happy Saturday to all. My husband and I stayed last night in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We had dinner at the hotel. We had a garden salad and shared a sampler dinner of fried mushrooms, calamari and barbecue wings and hot wings and iced tea. It was really good. Sometime this afternoon we’ll be back at our Mississippi home. I hope that you all have a wonderful day.
Good day to everyone. I will soon be heading back to Mississippi and be here in Noise more again. This is one of our projects that was done here in our West Virginia home. My husband put in a new ceiling in one of our basement bedrooms. It is made of a tongue and groove pine. We still need to put up crown molding and a light fixture. The ceilings in the basement are only 7 feet high, which made the job easier. It took him 2 and a half days. He’s done a great job and I love the look. I hope that you are all well.
Hello, it seems like it’s been forever since I’ve spent much time here. I won’t be back to Mississippi until Saturday. These photos are of one of the tunnels we travel through to go from Mississippi to West Virginia. There are two tunnels that take us through the mountains instead of over or around them. It shortens our time to get there, which is a good thing. I hope that you are all enjoying your day.
I wanted to pop in and say hello. I hope that everyone is doing well. We are very happy to be in West Virginia, but we have had a death of my childhood friend happen on Wednesday. He was 63 . This has put a dark cloud over this trip. He was more like a brother to me. I hope that we can experience some more joy here before we head back to Mississippi. My husband and I sat on our front porch tonight in our rocking chairs. The photo is our night view of the valley below us. We will be here for another week.
Here is our view that we see from our home in West Virginia. The house with the trees belongs to our 93 year old friend. His daughters were my playmates. I’ve known him since I was 8. I hope that this finds everyone well.
We made it to the house safely this afternoon. I’ll visit with you all when I can. I hope that everyone is doing good.
We made it safely to our hotel a few hours ago. The drive was nice. We had great weather and very little traffic. Tonight we got dinner at our favorite Chattanooga restaurant. It’s called the City Cafe Diner. We did carry out and ate in our room. My husband had catfish and I had a hamburger steak. Their meals are huge. We have lunch for tomorrow too or dinner. I won’t be in here as much as usual, but I will catch up with everyone when I get back to Mississippi.
Happy Sunday to everyone. My husband and I have a little less then two hours to drive before we stop for the night. As you can see the weather is beautiful. I’ll pop back in when we settle into the hotel room. I hope that you are all well.
Tonight we are eating our dinner just a little earlier then normal. We’ll be going to bed earlier too, because we will be heading to West Virginia in the morning. I made a pork tenderloin and some roasted broccoli. What are you having for dinner ?
Here is a photo of how our home in West Virginia looked when I was a child. I feel so blessed to have this home that is so full of precious memories. My grandparents visited us in this house and would stay at least a month at a time with us. This month my dear grandpa would have tuned 119. The one photo is my grandpa and I and the other is my sister and I with him. I can’t wait to get on the road tomorrow.
Hello, I’m going to bed earlier then normal. I want to get plenty of rest for our trip to West Virginia. Tomorrow we will do a few last minute things for the trip. We will travel light. There are shoes and clothes, towels, wash cloths, soap, shampoo and such at the house already.
It was chilly today and I made some red beans and kielbasa to warm us up. We had to put some heat on for a bit to take the chill out of the air. I’ll pop in some tomorrow if I get a chance. 😁
These weeds are taking over our backyard. I’m glad that they are pretty weeds. Yesterday I mowed some of them. I was afraid they’d get all the way to our house. I have left some that are a good distance from the house.
Happy Friday to everyone. I wanted to recommend these protein bars that I got the other day. They are really good and diabetic friendly. The Peanut Butter Pie is very good, but my favorite of the two is the Chocolate Mouse Pie. I’ve never seen this brand before. Have you tried them ?
I wanted everyone to know that I may not be here as much as normal. We are leaving Sunday morning to go to West Virginia and I won’t be back to Mississippi until the 23 rd. The photo is our view from in front of our West Virginia home. We are at the top of a mountain and overlook a valley. You can see the other mountain in the distance. I think I’ll have some data while I’m gone so I will pop in some. I hope that you are all having a nice day.
Tonight I made chicken salad sandwiches for dinner. I hadn’t made them in awhile. It was a real warm day and I didn’t want to heat the kitchen up. Now tomorrow we have a cold front coming. What crazy weather. It’s time to go to bed. I’ll see you all tomorrow.
Here are more photos of the West Virginia home. The fire place was originally coal burning and was later made into a gas one. We rebuilt the mantle and still need to clean the bricks. My husband is laying carpet in one of the bedrooms and the mirrored closet is in another bedroom and original to the home. The house was built in 1906 and mirrors are not perfect, but I love their imperfections. The last photo is our basement under the front porch.
In three more days we are going up to our home in West Virginia. We will drive six hours to Chattanooga, Tennessee and spend the night and then six more hours the next day to the house. These pictures are of some of our renovations. None of the rooms are complete yet. Some rooms need trim and paint and others need floors refinished. Our kitchen needs a lot of work. I can’t wait to get there. We are working on the front porch this time.
It’s time for me to say goodnight. It is 10:35 here in Mississippi, USA. I hope that you all had a nice Tuesday and those of you a day ahead are having a nice Wednesday. I’ll see you tomorrow.
Tonight I made baked chicken and mashed turnips for dinner. It’s been awhile since I cooked turnips. I forgot how much I like them. I enjoy the turnip more then the turnip greens. Do you like turnips ?
Sunday afternoon we had gorgeous weather on our drive to the restaurant. The nice thing about living in the rural countryside is that there is very little traffic. We pretty much had the road to ourselves on the drive. We had beautiful scenery to look at during our 30 minute drive. Do you have a lot of traffic or empty roads ?
It’s time to say goodbye for the day. I’m on my way to bed, but plan to return to Noiseland tomorrow. I tried to take a picture of the moon just now. My camera didn’t capture a good image. It’s a 3 quarters moon tonight and looks really pretty. Do you have a pretty moon tonight ?
I hope that everyone had a nice Monday. I had a good day. We just finished our dinner. I made a meat sauce to have over spaghetti noodles for my husband and spaghetti squash for me. I put hamburger, onions, garlic, mushrooms, bell peppers, oregano, black pepper, cayenne pepper and tomato sauce in the meat sauce. I baked some already made mozzarella bread sticks to go with it. What did you have for dinner ?
