Last week, hubby and I watched movies, Escape From Alcatraz (1979) and Escape Plan (2013) Then, last night I asked him again if he wanted to watch another one. I don't see any interesting Korean movies these days, so I'm browsing some old American films. Hubby: "Is it an old movie? Me: It's a 2017, " Going In Style " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcdTN5soeQw ). It's about 3 old men, pensioners that robbed a bank. Hubby: Mmm interesting. Currently, you've been watching…

The weather was very confusing today, we had a bit of hail and rain. Luckily, the sun showed up in the afternoon. Mamo couldn't work in the garden, so she made another mekitsi for breakfast. She always makes it perfect. Yummy! #grateful For lunch, I cooked lentil soup and pa tsamba potato pancakes ( with a bit of flour, leek, onions, and some herbs ). It turned out ok :):) After our late lunch, we managed to go outside to get some fresh air. Our town is getting colourful,…

@Sunnylife

It was 8 C today, a bit chilly and windy brrrr. With this cold weather, you don't feel like getting up early. A nice cup of tea is always perfect to keep you warm. We gotta keep moving even though it's cold. Hubby and I had a long walk (almost 3 hours) We visited one of the Fortresses in our town, the Kra Kra Fortress https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krakra_of_Pernik. KraKra is a 30 minutes walk from our place but then we decided to explore more walking routes. It feels so good…

@Sunnylife

Good evening everyone. How are you guys? We had a nice walk yesterday in the forest, the sun showed up, thankful for the lovely weather. We planned to go mountain hiking this week but we canceled it. Instead, Rimbie would like to explore another town and go on the slow train. He is looking forward to it. Today we worked a bit in the garden, went downtown, and then another evening walk. Mamo made banitsa for lunch and I baked pa tsamba cookies lol I will share them with you…

@Sunnylife

We got up before sunrise and took the first train to Kyustendil. It's a 2-hour ride on the slow train. We watched the sunrise behind the mountains, it was so beautiful. The shallow Struma river, flowing smoothly. It's fascinating to see some houses near the riverside. It must be so peaceful to live in such an area. Our train stopped at many stations, we enjoyed the mountain view and trees were blooming everywhere. It was like in a movie, surreal. Kyustendil is near the…

@Sunnylife

This is the continuation of our 1 day trip to Kyustendil. We arrived early, the streets were almost empty but some cafes were already open. After we ate our breakfast, we visited the local market, hubby told us a story about his grandma who sold her tomatoes and veggies on the same place. Rimbie and I accepted the challenge, our aim was to reach the Hisarlaka Fortress. It was stiff climbing up. Rimbie did a good job, I was last, struggling to catch them up lol. It took us…

@Sunnylife

At Last, we reached the top. Here is the Hisarlaka Fortress. I'm glad that they kept it untouched and left it the way it was. Kra Kra Fortress lost its natural beauty because they added artificial walls (maybe for safety and security) Hisarlaka Fortress reminds me of Samuel's Fortress, in Ohrid Macedonia. Did you know that Macedonia was part of Bulgaria before but now it's a different country? I climbed halfway, Hisarlaka Fortress is very high. The walls are about 10 meters…

@Sunnylife

After spending some time at Hisarlaka Fortress, we rested in a gazebo. We tried another route going down. It was getting warmer. On the way to the town center, an old lady greeted us. Grandma was very friendly and told us to come again next year to experience the Spring Festival that will be held in the Fortress. Going down is always easier. It was already lunchtime, the town was alive and busier. We searched for a comfy restaurant and had our lunch. After that we visited…

Another weekend adventure :) We got up early today to go to Sofia, from our place to Sofia was only 30-4o mins by train. My sister-in-law picked us up from the station and drove us to Decathlon. Rimbie needed tennis shoes, he is growing so fast, in a few more years he will be tall like his father. His shoe size is now is 41. We also had a nice walk on Vitosha street (busiest street in Sofia). I'm not so used to seeing many people like this hahaha. Everything seems normal…

@Sunnylife

Happy Easter everyone! HE is risen! I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Easter celebration with your loved ones. Next week, Mamo will prepare her traditional Easter food and we are going to paint Easter eggs. It will be our second year celebrating Orthodox Easter with her. #thankful Today is also Mamos' name day. A name day is like a birthday, she got flowers, chocolates, name day wishes and gifts from us and friends. Interesting culture isn't it? Read here: What is a…

@Sunnylife

Hiya! We are back to busy mode again :) doing more isolation in the house, still a lot of work to do but we are getting there. It snowed this morning but melted right away brrrr. I cooked spinach soup for lunch to warm us a bit. Last week, Mamo baked tutmanik/cheese bread (feta cheese and leeks) mmmm they are soo good! #grateful. I couldn't take new photos these days, so I'm sharing some random pics taken last week :) Keep safe everyone. Sensya na po at busy lang. Cheers!…

@Sunnylife

It was raining almost the whole day. Hubby and I continued isolating the ceiling. It's fun and good exercise as well :) Late in the afternoon, we had a short walk downtown. Easter decorations can be seen everywhere. Eggs are also on sale in the stores. It's a beautiful tradition that almost everyone paints them on Easter. Yup, Next Sunday is Orthodox Easter here. Nothing much is happening, waiting for the sunny weather so we can work in the garden. Mamo's tomato seedlings…

@Sunnylife

We are expecting nice warm weather in the coming days. I can't wait to eat out in the garden :) This morning we bought some paints for our Easter eggs on Sunday. Mamo has been doing this tradition for many years, and we are all excited. Tomorrow is a holiday here until Monday. And look what we've found in Kaufland, these giant apples were on sale. Even Though the food prices here are getting up, now and then there's a good bargain. The last 2 photos were taken last week, and…

@Sunnylife

It was lovely weather yesterday, hubby and I had a longggg walk for 2-3 hours. On the way to the forest, we saw an Orthodox church, it was already closed. We waited for a while then a priest came and opened the door for us. When we were inside he blessed us with holy water, using wildflowers (second photo) It's a tradition here then he gifted me with painted Easter egg. It was a great experience :) We continued our journey. This time, we tried a new route. It was like going…

@Sunnylife

Today is Orthodox Easter. To all my family and friends who are celebrating, Happy Easter!!! Yesterday, we painted some Easter eggs, We didn't put any decorations, just plain colours. It was fun! Mamo baked "kozunak" an Easter bread, cooked traditional food, rice and meat (lamb) I prepared Asian cuisine, noodles, white rice and baked fish. We first cracked the easter eggs. Usually, they exchange them with family and friends and break them together. Read more info here: Egg…

@Sunnylife

I'm glad that Noise is working now. How are you all doing? At last, we have real Spring weather here. The days are longer, so it's perfect to walk in the evening. We also discovered that by going a bit late to the supermarkets, you can get some big discounts. (300 grams spinach, 25 cents a piece of bread 20 cents. ) How often do you do your shopping? Did you notice that the food prices increased? Sharing some random photos that I took this week. Sensya na po busy lang den…

@Sunnylife

Howdy! The weather was perfect yesterday. Here are some photos from our walk. We didn't go that far this time. This forest is close to where we live, sadly some pine trees were cut :( (ginawang pang gatong na ata ang iba tsk ) Sharing our convo: Me: What is your favorite season? Hubby: If I could freeze the Spring, I would freeze it. It's just beautiful and so refreshing. I like Spring. Hubby: I think I know your favorite season. Me: What is it? Hubby: Winter. Me: Huh? Why…

@Sunnylife

Nothing beats a homemade bread! We are grateful for Mamo, whenever we are busy with renovation, she always makes sure we have food on the table. She never gets tired of baking and cooking for us. #thankful. The other day, we ordered some wood for the winter, it's better to have it just in case the electricity is cut off (for emergency use only.) Even though it's already Spring, the weather changes all the time (like mood swings lol) The 3rd photo is a cherry tree, it's…

@Sunnylife

We witnessed a lovely performance today! Hats off to these children and participants. They did an incredible job. These photos were taken this afternoon when we went downtown. There was a Folklore Festival titled " Friends Through Dance" They wore different costumes, very colorful and they all executed the dance very well. I'm sure it's a lot of hard work and practice. Their parents must be proud! Feel free to watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44iaPpcs7T4…
