What made You an Introvert?
You are not introverts. You weren't born introverts. You played suwe the loudest and argued your way into the Mummy and daddy spot as kids. Your name rocked every noisemakers list, with a multiplications sign attached to it. x10, x5, x200. That was you.

You talked the sharpest, always spearing every discussion; talk about the girls, about the porn you stayed up till midnight to watch on DSTV, talk about movies, adding your own sauce. About distant uncles in bigger cities. But things changed as you grew.
Your intellect grew, your mind began to talk, running faster and louder than your mouth. The boys would talk about Jollof, and you open your mouth to talk and end up rambling, confusing everyone. The talk about terminator and guns had you reeling off the loop into a faraway country while they just watch you. You were becoming a loosed canon. THE FIRST STAGE
So you reduce your inputs, talked less. Not like you don't like talking, but people won't comprehend what you say, and you don't have the patience to educate people.
You see something wrong in every conversation, every discussion but you keep quiet. Talking could get you in trouble. You are better off talking to yourself. If you say half of the things in your head, people will pause in their tracks and turn to behold who is talking, throwing you different stares; Shocked. Confused. Disgust. Ignorant. THE SECOND STAGE
So you shut up and read more. Establish conversation with yourself, for yourself. Imaginary conversations with a sarcastic Ruth, sadistic and grumpy Jonathan, Humorous and Dumb Kelechi. All in your head. The dialogues are the best, if they get on TV, they will rival those of Big Bang Theory and Breaking Bad. THE FINAL STAGE OF BECOMING AN INTROVERT
One day, you'll find your kin. A talker that had to shut up because the world can't talk and think at their pace. That person that matches your weirdness, understands your points, and won't cast you a quizzical condescending stare, questioning your sanity. But rises to your pedestal.
"Nah, closeup might add to the color quite alright, but the minty taste could ruin the tomato and kill every other ingredient. Unless we have to fry it with the tomato and add Ghana pepper to reduce its chill and minty taste. I'd like to try it out, but there is not enough tomato to waste. Put that on our to-do list."
And watch yourself rise up from the ashes, talking a thousand words per minute, making people wonder. "Is that not that girl that is shy, quiet, and doesn't talk? What happened?"
You were never an introvert. You were just too loud, but on a different frequency from everyone else. You are an introvertive extrovert. The right people haven't come to unleash your inner noisemaker.
I Miss the Lock Down
I miss the lockdown. I know that is an insensitive way to start out a piece, especially when I was here when the world was in chaos. When I knew people who died, I even had to write their stories at some point, when I knew familiars that starved and had to beg, I knew people who lost jobs, I mean, still out of jobs. I shouldn't say I miss a period that advented all that. But I do. Now the world is going back to normal and normal means alot different where I am standing, normal is a blanket of anxieties, doubts, insecurities, fear, panic, bouts of depressions that run weeks into months. That's my normal.
With the lockdown, I felt like I was doing well. People weren't doing much, the world was at standstill, so I had an excuse. I had an excuse for not doing much, my bare minimum was seen as greatness. Now the world has reopened and gone back to normal, I see my failures strutting back again. They didn't lose any weight during this period.
Writing
This post is based on a particular comment that drew my attention.
So, you know how much of a writer I am and how I've written a few books that can be found online for now. Some of you have already read my books and left good reports.
This particular comment asked me why my character for Aiko: Rise of the goddess of war, wasn't black. And I cannot lie but I was pissed. Let me tell you why.
As a writer, it is very offensive to me when you tell me to stick to writing about my heritage or culture. It's just like telling me to only breathe the air that comes from my house and not the one that flows in another man's house. That I need to stop writing about other cultures that don't matter to me. That I don't know anything about any other country outside of my own. It's kind of annoying, to be honest. (When I hear these things from people).
My talent is writing and I've had this for years. My talent isn't a skill that I just picked up because it became a trend, just like I see so many people do these days. It's not a skill that I have to have a specific responsibility, it's a talent that lets me receive inspiration and ideas, more than those who suddenly picked up the skill.
I, Kaykay, love to write about every race, culture, tradition or country. I literally write stories that has white leads, black leads, Asian leads, etc. I do not in anyway, write only "african" characters because I am African and I should stick to it. That's bullshit to me.
This part of my life is my talent and each day of my life, more stories flows through my head. More ideas comes to me in different ways. I apologise but it's offensive to me if you tell me that I should not write about other races because you think I know nothing about them or it's not right. You're wrong.
I am well educated and learned on what to/not to write (especially being careful on racism). I have written books where my characters were white, blacks and Asian. In fact, my motto on my Wattpad account is; "your interracial plug."
Don't get me wrong, I have numerous books that I am yet to write, that tells a story about my culture/country.
I am only saying that, I can write whatever I want, for my audience. My dream is to go global and hit different target market with different stories. I have a lot of niches.
But the next person that tells me to stop writing about other races, will get a rude response from me. Especially when it's from people that know me or I am close to.

When I'm arguing and fighting about BBNaija. About Nengi and Ozwo, about Kiddwaya and Erica and Laycon. About who knack who and who is hating who, about their games and who is a snake, then you open your mouth and tell me I'm not watching the show. What an insult!

Identity Issues
Why does this happen? I don't know if you have noticed it or perhaps you are even one of those who do this.
One moment, a particular user goes by a particular name and the next moment there is a name change. I understand that uptrennd gives us the opportunity to be whomever it is we want to be. Some even go as far as claiming an identity that is not theirs, pretending to be a woman just because they for some reasons believe that women get the highest votes on uptrennd. Now, that I have mentioned it, I would like us to even talk about it in the comment section. Do women get more votes on uptrennd than me.
While still on the topic on name change. I want you to understand that constant changing of names can affect you incase you don't know. Your name is your identity and once you have grown your followers to a certain level, it will be disastrous to have a constant change of name. There is every tendency that those who know you may see your post and not bother to check it out because you have an unfamiliar name. It could also lead to loss of followers as someone going though his or her list of people being followed may wonder when and how they followed such a strange name and decide to unfollow.
If you are doing so because you are getting low votes, a name change doesn't guarantee a high vote either. Be unique. Create your own brand with your name.
If you have nothing shady going on, why constantly change your name? Why not create a trademark with the name you are known with? Let people know you with that and recognise you anytime anyday.
I can't imagine changing my name. Just think how much that would affect me. Just think about this and do the right thing.

Do not sell your self short. If you are sure you deserve better, by all means aim for something better.
Don't get stuck on this 'devil-you-know' lines.

My Love Language
If I buy a book and give you, whether you ask or not, I am telling you in my own unique language that "I, Blessed Abraham, love you."
It is that simple. It is not a feeling that I can fake. I don't buy books for people, I even rarely lend out my books. I'm a book hoarder. I put a lot of thought into the books I buy, I go lenghts to find them and I think of you throughout the entire process. Who are you? What sort of personality do you have? What is your taste? Will this sing and be special to you? And most importantly, will you see my feelings through this gift?
It is not a random act, it is not friendship. I can shake your hand or like your posts and that's being friendly. I can send you data or airtime and that's enough for being friends. I can call you, or text you. That's what friends to. Buying a book is something more to me. It is something I enjoy doing, and it feels more special when I do it for someone I hold in that special place where life begins and ends. My heart.
