I love some of the inside art on many of the old 'gatefold' jackets in my vinyl collection. This photo in actuality measures 12" (height) x 24" width (30.5 x 61 cm) and the album art at that size has a much higher impact that what is available from other printed media (cassettes/CD's/etc). This is the inside of the album jacket to 'Steppenwolf 7'.

Monday morning 6:00 A.M. February 27 2023 Somewhere in southeastern Illinois... Funny how a ham is so much cheaper when it isn't near to a major holiday. Yes - all major holidays - and the minor holidays as well - in my lack of religion allow pork any time you want pork. Chicken. Cow. Pig. Horse if you're of a mind to. Just don't try to eat my cats. I'd probably not be too fond of that occurrence. But back to that ham. Yeah, it's cooking in the crockpot. And it cost me about two-thirds of what one costs around Christmas or Thanksgiving or Easter. Dang - did I smoke that bowl already?

When you are posting long multiple paragraph responses on a discussion site faster than you could read the discussions and write long responses to them, it is a pretty good indicator you are not writing them. Instead of posting 5 extremely long responses in a 5 minute period, these idiots should understand they need to behave as though they are writing it...leave 5-10 minutes between making the posts - however, posting very fast does make them easier to spot and remove from the site.

Yep, spring is coming. Just removed the first snapping turtle of the year from the ditch in the front yard and turned it loose down the hill at the far end of the property in the drainage ditch that runs beside the train tracks.

See that red circle? That's where my house is under all those trees. This is why I usually have to walk off the property to get any clear moon shots and I have no horizon for either sunrise or sunset photos.

This popped up in my facebook 'memories' today from 4 years ago. I was out of town heading somewhere to check out some used vinyl shops, and about 25 miles from town I remembered a remark someone had made 16 years before then (2003) and decided to go a couple miles out of my way to take a chance - and it paid off in this crate of albums for only $150. 4 years later and I just realized I never did get to where I was originally going to go. lol

Actually not fixin' to as I actually already assembled most of it and it is crocking away in the crock pot for the next several hours. But that means I'll have some nice fresh hot potato soup when suppertime arrives.

I've just realized (or maybe I am just blind) that there doesn't appear to be a 'search' function for the site - which means I cannot search a word or phrase to find discussions from people I might have things in common with or that I might like to follow. @Simon do you know if there is any plan to implement a search here?

Tore something in my left upper abdomen Monday during a coughing fit and it is still hurting pretty bad when I cough or bend wrong or try to use a loud voice (like calling the cats when they are outside) and it simply sucks. Nothing else to report, y'all have a good day/night/whatever.

Attached a longer strap to my trail camera yesterday so I could easier fasten it to tree trunks, after a bit this squirrel decided to take a look at this 'new' thing on the tree trunk.

I love these people. The Ex-Bombers only release things on vinyl - they do not put out CD's and they do not 'stream' their music or release it in digital audio formats. 100% mono analog recordings. I have everything they've released so far + 3 t-shirts.

I really REALLY hate the United States Postal Service. Years ago, each town used to do their own sorting of outbound mail and send it to the proper place. These days, the USPS has 'hubs' that service large areas, and all outgoing mail from small towns living within the area the 'hub' services must first be delivered from the surrounding towns to the hub, where it will then be sorted and sent to its destination. While it sounds like it might be an idea to save money, we are now faced with this situation: I live over 100 miles/170 km from the 'hub' that services my area. If I am going to send a letter to someone that lives in the same town as me, first that letters travels 170 km to the hub to be sorted for delivery, and then it travels 170 km back here to be delivered, instead of the 3-4 km it actually needed to go. Or, you get this: I ordered a vinyl record from someone 90 km north of me. Instead of it simply traveling 90 km south to reach me, first it goes north 80 km to the sorting hub. Then (and I am not sure why this happened) it goes to another sorting hub 290 km south-west from the first one - which now leaves my record 193 km west of me, which is over twice the distance it actually needed to travel to get to me from the person I bought it from. Total travel distance in the mailing process (if it does indeed finally come to me from the St Louis hub) is almost 550 km. Or 460 kilometers further than if it had simply come directly to me. No wonder people don't like to send things by snail mail these days. Oh - by the way - what used to take one day has now been 5 days watching it moving through the mail system. And this is a common occurrence. Look at the map - the black arrow shows how it would have traveled under the older system, the red arrows/line show where it is traveling now. Utterly stupid.

Queen Emoci sits in light sunshine enjoying the day. February 4th 2023 5:00 AM Saturday morning Somewhere in southern Illinois USA A bit warmer than yesterday but not much, -7 °C currently but it is supposed to reach 8° later today. I guess the ultra-secret Giant Chinese Spy Weather Balloon is still over the USA today. Glad it is someone else's problem. lol Moon is one day shy of full, I'll have to bundle up and take the camera down the road a piece tomorrow to get a good shot clear of the trees. (two focal points, first on the moon, second on the trees blocking the view)
