8:40 A.M. Thursday November 24 2022 Somewhere in southeastern Illinois USA There's that groundhog feeding near the southern boundary of the property again this morning. Groundhogs typically go into hibernation after the first heavy frost, which is usually in October or early November. for my area, and indeed we have had a couple of them (and even some snow) but this one is still stuffing its face every morning and evening - sometimes in mid-afternoon - on acorns from the big oak trees that grow in that spot.
