Male Northern Cardinal (bottom) and leucistic female Northern Cardinal (top). I captured this shot a year ago today, I have only seen this phenomenon twice (a few years ago I saw one but missed getting a shot). It must have been 'passing through' since I never saw this one again afterwards.

That is a fantastic looking female cardinal. I believe it is illegal to raise cardinals or other wild birds as pets in the USA. Otherwise, it would be cool to capture that one and see if its offspring would have the same coloration. (Assuming this coloration wasn't due to disease.) How close are you to the border? Are things really going bonkers in Canada, or is that just media hysteria?
