"How desperate can I be? I'm dating a bass player." I have not genuinely laughed at something for a long long time, but I just got that message from my third ex-wife (I have four but only one talks to me). Now, a lot of people---probably most of them---will not understand why I would find that statement so freakin' hilarious. To those people, perhaps you might understand the irony of the situation this discussion was occurring in---an ex-wife asking ME for relationship advice. And that already had me chuckling a bit. But it is cool Etta felt she could reach out and message me asking for advice. Her husband of the past 10 years died here a bit ago. She wanted my opinion on if I thought enough time had passed for her to start dating someone new. Now, Etta and I are both early 60's---I told her, in my honest opinion, we weren't gettin' any younger and I wouldn't see why she shouldn't go forward with her life. I didn't feel she would be dishonoring his memory. But why was the bass player so funny? You'd have to be a musician to understand...
