"Just throw me on a fire and break out the wienie sticks" Death and dying seems to be on my mind lately. It's been over 6 years since the stroke that left me laying on the floor unable to get up. A week in intensive care, and then shuffled off to a 'care home' for a bit, which was a horror all on its own...but I got to where I could walk again with a cane, and then finally I was able to put the cane aside and walk unaided. Yes, occasionally you may see me weave just a little, and I can easily lose my balance, but I am fine for the most part. But then finding my Dad unresponsive on the bathroom floor at the beginning of May, and his death at the beginning of June and all the funeral arrangements etc. has reminded me of my own mortality. And I don't have 6 people to carry that casket. And I don't have $14,000 to spend on my funeral. So I have decided on cremation. Cheaper and easier to carry. And then they can just throw the urn with my ashes in the garbage or whatever. *I* sure as hell will be beyond the point of caring. *This joyous Saturday morning post brought to you by the fine folks at Ernie's Crematorium and Hot Dog Stand.

I thought I would always be against cremation. But my husband told my kids he wanted to be cremated. I have his ashes here with me. It has really helped my grieving process. Sorry to hear about your dad. ♥️
I'm curious as to why you are against cremation. Any particular reason?
The older we get, the closer we are to the finish line, and the more clearly we can see it. Death sucks. But as many people say, it is also a part of life.
That will be my choice as well. Throw my ashes in the sea or add it to some soil and see if something blossoms from it. No need to keep it in an expensive urn. I'm low maintenance so I want to keep it like that.
