So I went to mark something as 'spam' in my email inbox and Yahoo asked if I would rather unsubscribe to the site instead of marking it as 'spam'. NO. Mark that fucker as SPAM because I did not subscribe to it in the first place.

I always had a feeling that by clicking unsubscribe to unsolicited emails you were sneakily confirming your address as active thus leading to more spam! Probably paranoia but i agree with your point.
