Seeking Job Granted!
It's been a while since I posted an article. I've been busy and the signal was not stable.
It's been a month since I started working in our municipal office. I was grateful for having a job and not just slacking at home. How did I manage to have this job of mine?
One time, a close friend and a classmate of mine texted me. She said, "please call me, ASAP!" I thought that there's an emergency so i was nervous. What could it be, i thought. As fast as i could, i stopped what i was doing and called her. What's up, i said.
"Do you want to apply here in the office? We have vacancy because one of our workmate quit. And if you do, please prepare the requirements needed."
With that, I calmed down myself. I thought it was an emergency. I asked her about the job and the requirements. So i went down to our room and got the folder. I looked on the requirements. Whew! Thank goodness, i brought my credentials. After preparing the documents, i showered and changed. Then went straight to the office. My friend welcomed me and accompanied me to the office.
I was a little bit nervous as i entered the room. They smiled at me and asked questions. I handed over my documents and told me to get and Indigency certificate. It happened that my brother in law was at our house so mother instructed him to go and get it. We photocopied my documents and printed the ID. I was thankful because of my friend. She did not leave me.
After completing the requirements, i went to their workplace while waiting for my brother in law. I asked why the person i changed quit. They don't know the reason also. I thanked her again for thinking about me. No problem she said. I was the first person she thought when the boss asked them if they know someone to replace the person quitted. So boss told them to text me and prepare my requirements which we did.
They told me to report the next day. I was a bit surprised but did not show. I agreed and left. When i was about to go home, i met my brother in law. He told me that the signature of the barangay captain was needed so we went to their house.. Good thing she was home so she put her signature and i submitted it afterwards.. I told my friend that i will see them the next day.
The next day, i prepared myself.. Out of excitement i woke up early. Then went to office early also.. I waited for my friends to enter. Then went to boss to ask what to do. They told me to do what the others were doing, editing. So i used the desktop. Not knowing of anything, i opened the desktop. When someone came, i just thought that she's just waiting for someone so she entered. But when my friend came, she told me that someone i thought was stranger was the one using the desktop. I said sorry and told me that she'll use her laptop.
I don't have laptop because desktop is what i'm using in the city.. I continued what i was doing after telling me what to do. It was technical editing.. We editted the works of cultural mappers. That was what we're doing for a week. They told me to make a narrative report one time.. There was making of minutes of the meeting also. On field like going to other barangays for sector assessment. Making flower wreaths for the funeral. And other reports they told us to do.
Time flies and it's a month already. I still sell fishball when i go home. Sometimes not when i feel tired. Sometimes my brother in law was the one selling... So that's what i've been up to this whole month. Our contract will end this November 15. There is still 3 and a half months to go. This serves as experience.. I hope that when i apply for a job again, i will be accomodated. And when time permits, i want to become a permanent and regular employee.
By the way, i did not get my salary yet. We're still waiting for the text coming from Western Union to go and get it. We need to travel an hour in order to reach the nearby town where we withdraw the salary. So i hope we'll be hearing from them this week. I don't have money. Haha. But because of selling fishball, i have allowance. Even if not that enough.
I hope that after this contract, we will be having another job waiting for us.
Age doesn't matter in Education!
Have you ever asked your parents about their lives? How they lived before they met us, their children? Asked about their education. About how they managed to go to school?
So here, let me tell you about my mother.
Way back 1950's, there was a man from far away place who happened to come to a certain village for an unknown purpose. He saw a beautiful woman whom he was in loved with likewise with that woman. Because they loved each other, they got married after few months of knowing one another. This couple lived in the hometown of the woman, and were blessed with children.
One of their children, our mother, started to go along her grand parents to the ricefield at age five. She learned how to work there and enjoyed it. At age seven, her parents told her to go to school but she did not like. She told them that she prefers to go to the ricefields rather than going to school. They kept on convincing her but still cannot be convinced until age eleven year old. They were very much worried to what will be our mother's future if they failed to send her to school.
One day, our mother's father thought of something which might be of help in convincing her to go to school. So, one summer he told our mother that she will go with him to visit a hometown where he came from. Mother liked it. So, she packed her clothes for a travel.
In going there, they met buses going to different places. Her father started to ask what he thought of as follows:
Father: My child, will you read what was written on the head board of that bus to which place it will go?
Child: Eee....... I don't know.
Father: What about in that other bus coming, can you read?
Child: I don't know.
Father: Here comes another bus, can you read it for me?
Child: You know that I don't know how to read, why do you insist on asking me how to read? (angry)
They kept silent for few minutes then the father shifted the conversation to another topic until they reached their destination.
The night of that day, the father took the chance to explain why he kept on asking her to read what was written on the head board of each of those three buses they met. While listening to her father, she now realize the importance of going to school. Much more when she was introduced by her father to her new friends of that place. She was very much ashamed because she was the only one who couldn't read among them as friends. As a result, she planned to go to school when they go home after summer which she really did.
From then, she was challenged to study well especially that she was the oldest in the class. She did her best from elementary to college. While studying in high school to college, she had been a working student in one institute until she graduated Elementary Education course. She again encountered another challenge because she failed in the first teachers' board exam and passed only the second time she took it.
To cut it short, she was employed as a classroom teacher in one school after a year. As a teacher, she used to relate her previous experiences to those pupils whom she observed seeming to drop especially when they were bullied by their classmates calling them "mama/ daddy.
Now, she retired as Master Teacher 1 at the age of 62 with 32 years of teaching. After many years of teaching, she thought of retiring which she did last december 2019. She's enjoying her retirement going to the fields. She was able to do now what she wanted to do since she was a child with our father. They go separately to their own fields. My father retired as well.
So that's it for today. I hope this serves as an inspiration to all of us. Until next time again.
Hot Spring every afternoon!
Maatong Hot Spring - we can also say that it's a public sauna where we can all take a bath. There are two hot springs. Intended for men and women. It is separated. Up for the men and down for women.
This is a photo of where women take a bath. Before and after it was improved.
A photo of where men take a bath. Before and after improvement as well.
Everybody is welcome to take a bath here.
Since I started selling fishball, i can't find time to go and take a bath in our beloved Maatong hot spring. My husband is at work and my brother in law leaves early to go and feed their pigs. I'm left alone dealing with it. He comes home at 6 in the evening or 7. After closing, that's the time i take a shower. Because of tiredness, I don't have the energy to walk and go to Maatong. That's my routine for more than a week.
There was this time when I told my brother in law, Gabryel to take over so that I'll go and take a bath. Gladly, he said yes so I went. When I came home, he was able to sell. Good for him. Then he left because of his house chores. I'm alone again waiting for my husband to come home.
Sometimes, Gabryel can't come because of field works. He needed to do it or else his mother will get angry. I can deal with it even if i'm all alone until i got used to it. Sometimes i just shower and don't wet my head because it's night time and i don't have hair dryer. I go to maatong if i can during night time.
When my husband don't have any work to do these past few days, i was able to go to maatong and take a bath during afternoon. He will be the one to take over and sell. If i get lazy to walk, i'll just take a bath at home.
Then my sister and her husband came home here in our hometown. I have company to go to maatong so we do it regularly. No problem because my husband will take over. It's good to take a bath in the hot spring because it'll relieve all the stress and tiredness that we feel. It relaxes the body and mind. It seems that it has healing power. Haha. Joke only. You take out your "dika" or dead skin here. We have what we call "igod" that you use to take it down. Or use face towel. Or maybe just use your hand if your skin is sensitive.
We are very thankful to have this hot spring where we go into. All the people that are tired of work go to maatong. Some can't go because they just take a bath at home specially if their house is very far from maatong. Some go there to take a bath because they don't have water. Some get their water for washing and feeding the pig if their house is nearby. It's good to be here in our hometown.
If only I can live here forever. I will come here everyday and always.
This is for today. Until next time. Thank you!
Sayang, Paasa Lang Pala!
Bakit? Bakit? Bakit?! Paano? Sagot, gusto kitang hanapin. Pero okay lang, darating ang tamang panahon. Maniwala lang tayo.
Oh no!
Noong June 2019 at ngayon, June 2021. Parehong June. Bakit? Anong meron? Nagkataon lang po ba? Bakit kaya?
In His perfect time.
Muling nagsusumamo, kami..... Panalangin namin ay masagot na.
For the first time I sell - fishball!
Thinking about the things I'll do while in the province. Maybe I'll go to the fields. Maybe I'll just stay at home. Maybe I'll apply work. And many other maybe. But then, my brother in law suggested that I will sell fishball. Good idea, i thought. Instead of spending money buying fishball, I will sell it. Instead of buying halo halo, I will make palamig and ice candy then sell it. So with that, I borrowed money. That's the time I started selling.
June 8, 2021 - the time I started to have mini business. Selling fishball, kikiam, chicken ball, squid ball, and palamig. This was my first day. My little brother in law suggested it. He's a 12-year old boy. I'm thankful for his suggestion. Because maybe, I will just stay at home doing nothing.
I borrowed 2K as my capital from my older sister. It happened that she's travelling that day going back to the city. So together with our father, they bought all the things I needed. While waiting, we prepared the things needed. My brother in law or Gabryel went to change the shellane. Good thing, my parents have an extra tank and we exchanged it to new. I forgot to write all the things they will buy so the other items were bought from the stores nearby.
When all the items came, we went to our spot to prepare and open it. I made sauce and Gabryel prepared the sticks of fishballs. We were able to finish the preparations so we opened the door. I wrote a placard stating that we sell fishball. Everytime a person passes by, they take a peep and say this: "there's a spot also here?". Some left after saying that and some stayed to buy. It's doing fine. Atleast we have collections. The next day, we added palamig. At first, there was left overs. But on the next days, no more. Some look for it if they come.
When there is no gulaman to prepare, I tried avocado ice candy. I watched it on youtube how to make it and I did! I was able to make one. It was sold for 3 days. We still have avocados left so I made another set. Only 11 pieces left as of today. I hope it will be sold later.
It's been 18 days since I started selling. I purchased 4 times and I returned the capital to my sister. But only 1, 600. I will return the rest soon.
There are good and bad feedbacks from my customers. Almost everybody said that I have delicious sauce. Some said it delicious but watery. Sometimes they say that the fishball is hard to eat. Some said it's good. The reactions vary. It's good to some but bad to others. It's bad to others but good to some. It depends on the person tasting it.
Some said that the palamig I made first was delicious than the other palamig. So many comments you hear here and there. They tend to compare it. So I just accept what they tell me. What they suggest and what they recommend. After all, it's for the best. I'll always do my best for my customers.
Struggles - having offsprings.
Many couples are struggling to have kids. Maybe because the woman can't conceive. Maybe the man can't produce enough sperm cells. Or maybe both. There are many reasons and factor why a woman can't conceive. So they seek help from the doctors. Some are seeking help to the "manghihilot" and other ways to have kids.
Some of those who don't know the reasons why a couple don't have children are making assumptions. They are saying that they don't want kids. Some say they want to enjoy just couples. And many other assumptions. They just don't know the struggles of that couple they are facing. So let's not make assumptions. Don't run your mouth if you don't know what you're talking about.
It's been a month and eight days since we came home here in the province.
There's a reason why we came here in our hometown. My husband's mom told us to rest for weeks or a month if it's a must. Why not? If it helps us in having a baby, we must do it. In this way, we seek for help from the doctor of our hometown. Not a medical doctor or herbal doctor. It's a person that we call "in-iilot". He can help me in fixing my mattress so that I can be able to conceive.
During the first try, he told me what to avoid. There are things that I should not do. First thing he said was to avoid using vinegar. I should not use it at all. Don't mix with adobo or any viand that needs vinegar. Specially in eating mango. I should not use vinegar as my "sawsawan" because it will affect my mattress. Never ever use it. But if the problem is solved, I can use it again.
Next thing he said was travelling. I should also avoid myself to travel. Don't travel far. So I really need to stay here in our hometown. He also said that I should not carry heavy objects. I really have to. I let my husband carry it for me. These are the things I should avoid and should not do. Living like a princess? It's not. It's what they call bedrest.
The first and second time he fixed my matress, he told me that it's still not in the right place. But in the third time, it's okay now. And I still don't have my period. Usually, I have it during the last week of the month. 22 or 24. I hope that I'm really am pregnant. Because I don't have any signs that I usually feel or have if my period is near. My breast become sore, pimples on my face. For the fourth time he fixed it, it's good. It's okay now. Just waiting for the egg to be fertilized.
Having kids is what I really wanted. I want to have my own kids as well. So I hope and pray that it will be answered. He knows what He's doing and I know that in His perfect time, He'll give me one. I'll trust in Him and only Him.
Naglalaro ng project make over.
Nanonood sila noong umuwi kami. Kumain at ginawa kong ice cream yung kamote. Dahil sa pagod, nakatulog ako. Naidlip ako ng isang oras. Nagising ako at kinuha iyong sinimpay kong damit.
Halika at tingnan mo. Nandito sa dating bahay nila lola." Pero hindi dumating ang kuya niya. Haha.
Craving Solved!
I always wanted to eat something this past few days until now. I don't know if my period is near or something else. I hope it's that something else. Have you ever craved over something but you were not able to eat it so you felt sad and cried? For me, I did not cry because all my cravings were here so I ate it all.
The weather's so hot. Sweat all over the body. Drink iced water. But I'm craving something.
I was craving for something sweet yesterday. So I told my brother in law to chat his friend if they made buko pie. I was thinking on what to cook. Something that is sweet and yummy. I saw the sweet potatoes on the table so I thought of ube pie. She's not responding so I told him to go and buy ingredients for us to make ube pie or ube pocket. We have sweet potatoes and eggs so he went to buy bread crumbs, loaf bread, ube flavored condense and evaporated milk.
To start, I peeled the sweet potatoes or what we call "pap-aray". I did not use gloves so my hands got dirty because I did not wash the sweet potatoes.. But don't worry. You can just wash it off and your hands become clean again. It's optional to use gloves. Your choice also to wash first the camote before peeling or not.
There are pieces that were not good. We say it "nagasheng". I removed it and chose the good ones. I peeled outside because it's much cooler and there's fresh air. It's so hot! I can't take the heat. It makes me dizzy and my head hurts.
After peeling, I put the pieces in a pot where there is water. This will prevent the "pap-aray" in becoming black. It's easy to wash it also.
After peeling, I washed it twice and boiled for about 20 minutes. My brother in law prepared the loaf bread. Because we don't have roller, he washed the vinegar bottle and used it as roller. His hands were tired so I volunteered to do it. I told him to go and feed our piglet because it's lunch time already. When he finished, he closed the stove and let the pap-aray cool down.
When it was cooked, we mashed it. We don't have masher as well so we used fork. Our hands got tired in mashing. When it was mashed, we put the ube flavored condense milk. We mixed until all particles became violet. After that, we put a spoonful of ube in a loaf and folded it. We used water in its side to paste it and the fork to have a design. No image to show because I forgot to take one.
We have 21 in all. I arranged it on a plate and put in a chiller. We had our lunch at 1:30. While waiting for it to be chilled, I washed our clothes using the washing machine. I hanged it outside because there's still sun. It was so hot so we napped. We woke up at 4 in the afternoon and prepared the ube pocket to be cooked. I got it out from the chiller after 2 hours. He opened the evaporated milk using the tip of a knife.
I cracked two eggs and poured the milk then mix mix mix.. He put the bread crumbs on a plate. I heated the pot and put the oil. We dipped the loaf in the egg and milk mixture. Then on the bread crumbs. Afterwards, in the pan. Deep fry... I cooked it until it became golden brown. All the 21 pieces were cooked. It's time to taste.. Yummy! But the sugar is controlled. It's not sweet. I forgot to take a picture again because my attention was to eat. No portion left to take a picture on. Haha. Now I know how to make it. Try it also. It's delicious. My parents liked it and they liked how the sweetness was controlled. It's not good if it's so sweet, they said. Craving solved! I was satisfied.
Instead of buying outside, better make it. It's cheaper when you make it. It's also affordable. If only there are no bakeries here in our hometown, I will make and sell it. When my brother in law went home, I told him to get 6 pieces for them to eat at home. So that's how we made ube pie or ube pocket. You can call it what you want. Next time, I'll try something else again.
What We Call "Community Pantry"
The effect of this pandemic was severe. It's more than a year already. Many businesses closed. Many people lost their work. They lost their jobs. People can't go out to look for foods. People cried because of hunger. Because of this pandemic, many of us suffered. No foods, no money and no work. Life became much harder than before. Many people died because of the virus. Some died because of hunger. But because of the SAP, the hunger of people lessen. As months pass by, kind people start to donate to the needy. Some put up community pantry. At first, I don't understand what it means. There's this issue that became trending on social media. And when I saw, it's about community pantry.
I searched the web for more information. According to the google, a community pantry is a service that provides food directly to locals suffering from food insecurity. Some rely purely on local donations. Some coordinate with food banks and organizations for steady supplies of food and essential goods. Some also organize other socio-civic activities for patrons. The community pantry is not a new idea, as many have been established elsewhere as an immediate, local response to hunger, but in the context of the pandemic and millions of food-insecure Filipinos, the idea has proven nothing short of revolutionary.
Another source says that the idea behind the community pantry was that people could take as much as they need and donate whatever they can. For my understanding, you give what you can and get what you can consume. You can exchange what you have to the community pantry. But sometimes, others abused the "get what you can consume" order. They got more than what they can eat. But who knows, maybe they are many in the family. It's just a matter of considering others. Think twice before you do it. These are from kind people. We thank them for these.
We don't have community pantry in our hometown like in the city or other places.
As for our hometown, we have what we call "man-manok" or Thanks giving. When a family is complete, they do this. We have "gup-gupo" as well. This is after planting rice and after the "ap-apoy". Some do it on their own and some do it as a whole. They feed the community by giving rice and meat on a paper plate or banana plate.
People will gather one by one when they are called. They patiently wait until the"wat-wat" (meat) is cooked. There are men assigned to do it. It is voluntary, not pinpoint. After the meat is cooked, men will slice the meat into a portion wherein a person can consume. Below is our uncle cooking the meat. He's making sure that it will be cooked nicely.
While waiting for the food, people tell stories to each other. Some drink wine or what we call "vayash" (basi). "Iyapag" means you let them drink one by one by handing them the mug or cup and putting the wine in it. Some can skip if they don't want. Some also just go and drink where the wine is located.
After waiting for 2-3 hours, the food is served. There are two men holding the "liga-o" where the meat is.
Then some will fall in line to distribute the rice in a paper plate. They help each other to hand it over. They hold it carefully so that it will not fall.
The image above shows the process on how it works. The person will receive the meat after getting the rice. 2-3 slices of meat every person. Until all the people gathered have their own foods.
My wat wat. After receiving, I rolled and put inside so that it will not fall. Some ate their food right on their spot, some went home and some did what I did.
This is where the meat and rice cooked. The men cook the meat while the women cook the rice. They got the meat last night and the men were so early to cook meat. The women as well were early to prepare the rice. They watch it over until it will be cooked.
That's what we call community pantry. They share their blessings as well. Our kind of community pantry. I'm not saying that it really is a community pantry because this is our tradition eversince our hometown has been found.
"First Day in the Province"
I woke up because of the roosters' crowing. Another day. People walking can be heard. A busy morning. I rested my eyes and readied myself. Checked on my phone to see the time. It was 5 in the morning. I'm still sleepy but needed to wake up. Good morning! Then I went down to the kitchen to prepare the foods.
Upon waking up this morning, I cooked our breakfast. I called on my husband's youngest brother to go and buy tomatoes and onions. He requested to buy feeds for the piglets. His brother gave the money. When he came home, they went to feed the pigs together with father-in-law. My husband was fixing something outside. I finished first with my cooking so I held my cellphone and opened my accounts. Read some chats and replied to them. When everybody's home, we ate our breakfast.
We were about to go to my parents' house after eating but my husband stayed to his friend's house. It seems that they did not see each other for years by the way they talked. My husband told me to go first so I left him. On my way up, I saw my old classmates so I stayed with them also. It was past 8 in the morning but I feel hot. So I told my classmate to prepare three "halo-halo" for us to eat because she's selling. She then prepared and we ate afterwards. It's refreshing. That hit the spot.
After an hour, my husband came so I said goodbye to them. He sitted down again when we reached the store. He saw his buddy. They told stories. I left them and went to my parents' home. When my father saw me on the way, he led the way and went home. He asked some questions regarding the refrigerator that we bought and the washing machine. Afterwards, he also talked about the electric fan. If only it has no sound, maybe they opened it all night because of the heat. We talked about where to place everything. Later on, my husband came. He took a bath and changed clothes and went outside again. It was much cooler on the neighborhood than where we were so he preferred to go out.
I cooked snacks and rice. My mother came home that time. She slept upon coming home because of tiredness. After cooking, I went down to our room and fixed our things. It's so hot, really! So I took a bath as well. During lunch time, we did not eat because we're full. I drink water every now and then. I slept around 2 in the afternoon. Meanwhile, my husband came and slept also. We woke up at past three. I went outside to buy "halo-halo" again. I bought 2kgs. of chicken as well. The four of us ate it. It cooled us down somehow. While eating, we told stories to each other. Asked questions and everything. Then I got the things needed to the kitchen downstairs where we will live for the meantime.
Mother told me to fetch water so I did. I cooked our dinner also while fetching water. At 8:30, we ate our dinner. Okay, done for the day. I now have time to open my accounts. I posted in my noise.cash and opened this account afterwards.
Going back to my hometown was so fun. I don't miss the city. Maybe if I will be here for a year, that's the time I'll miss it.
While sitting down, I observed the surroundings. My observations this morning, afternoon and night time. People are so busy. They go to the fields to remove the weeds. Others go to check on their crops. Some go out at night to water their crops. Because it won't rain, the irrigation is not enough for everybody's plants. So they take turn to get water. I can see the flashing of lights everywhere during night time. If only it will rain. The weather's hot so they really need to check on their crops every now and then. Some of the rice paddies dried up.
The night's getting colder. I like it. So I'm still here at the veranda sitting. Looking at the stars above.
Listening to the music coming from the animals and insects. The dogs barking, frogs in the rice paddies, insects and the river flowing. It helps in relaxing the mind. I'll go inside our room if I feel cold. So for now, let me read some posts and comment on them.
This is for today. Good night!
"The Place Where We Always Be"
Out of excitement, I woke up early. I washed the clothes we wore yesterday. Took a bath, washed the dishes and cooked our breakfast. I swept the floor and prepared our things. Meanwhile, my husband woke up and did his routine. He then called his friend from the neighborhood. They carried our luggage. After a while, he came home and took a bath as well. I did my routine also like skin care. I really needed it because of my burned face from the heat. After he took a bath, we ate our breakfast. We prepared ourselves and went to have taxi.
We reached the terminal and I saw that some of our luggage were set on top of the bus. I went to pay the fare of our luggage and entered the bus to put our bags. Luckily, our seats are beside the door.
Easy to go out and enter. I went outside to tell them to put the washing machine and two electric fans on top so that it will be set. I entered again and sat. Later on, the passengers came. Some were confused by their seats because some were already seated. They went to tell the managers. They argued because the policy was first come first served. No reservation, no seat. But because they're senior citizens, they seated where they wanted. Some told them that there is no seniority when it comes to this. But at the end, they gave up their seats to them. Luckily, it settled.
I kept quiet because I don't want to butt in. There are many passengers so the others were not able to seat because no vacancy. The time they set for travel was not followed. It was past 9 when they started the engine. At last, we're off the road. Safe trip!
I was about to sleep when my husband disturbed me. He's telling where we were and every department stores we passed by. I'm not asking, I told him. He laughed so hard. Later that, he did it again. He really is a prankster. Thankfully, I was able to sleep. After two hours, we reached the bus stop and ate. Relieved ourselves and bought some refreshments. We continued with the ride.
The view I got when I looked out the window. Took it and saved. Nature! Can't stop to admire it. Along the side of the road. If only I was not dizzy, maybe I took everything.
It's so hot that it's hard to fall asleep. Waking up every now and then. I became dizzy. Or what they call motion sickness. I can't reply my messages so I let my husband do it.
After 6 hours, we got off the bus. Whew! It's so hot. I saw my batchmates and talked to them. We did chitchat. After 30 minutes of waiting, we're off the road again. So excited to reach home.
It's good to see the beautiful sceneries along the road. Aahhhh! So refreshing. The cold breeze and the fresh air.
I can't stop myself from taking pictures because of its beauty. I love it. Took a photo of one of our hometown's barangay.
After an hour, we're home. Visited my parents' house. We drank coffee and ate biscuits. Bought fish, bread and vegetables for my husband's great grandmother. Then we headed home to my in laws' house. There are people drinking when we got home. I cooked dinner for them and now I'm resting. It's good to be back home again after 9 days. Hello, my hometown! We'll gonna rest here for how many days. Maybe weeks. We're here for a reason. Not just because of vacation.
Photos were taken while riding the jeep.
"My Marriage Life"
Marriage is the process by which
two people make their relationship
public, official, and permanent.
It is the joining of two people in
a bond that putatively lasts until
death, but in practice is often cut
short by separation or divorce.
What the google stated when I searched on it.
Being married is not that easy as everybody thinks. There are hardships that we encounter. Troubles that we face. Problems and struggles that come every now and then. But these are all part of marriage. We're not given problems that we can't overcome as they say. It's just a matter of how we handle it. How we solve and make solutions out of it. There are things in life that I encountered, learned and faced as a married woman.
1. Adjustment. It takes time to adjust when you're married. Married is very different from being girlfriend/ boyfriend. You need to adjust so that the both of you will come to an agreement. It's not easy but step by step, we can do it. Some adjusted easily but for us, there are time that we still need to adjust.
2. Calmness. Keep my mouth shut if my husband is angry. I don't want to add to his anger. So what I do is to keep my mouth shut. Just answer what he asks. If I see to it that he's calm, that's the time I talk to him. Don't ever argue if one of you can keep still. Sometimes, I'm the reason why he gets angry especially when he's drunk. What I do is not to get angry also. Instead, I stay calm.
Sometimes we can't let out what we feel. We just keep quiet and that's it. No more talking about what happened. He becomes quiet and I keep still also. What I want is that we should know how to express what we feel in order for it to be solved. There are times when I tell him that we should talk about this and that. But he always say that it's in the past. Don't think about it. We ran out of topics everyday. So we face our phones instead of telling stories. We tell each other that we say something but ended laughing.
What we always talk about is when will we have kids. When will we have a baby. When will we build our house. When will I be employed and so on. So everytime we encounter a video that shows a baby, we show it to each other. Then we end up smiling. They're so cute and adorable. Aahhh, thinking about it makes me smile.
There are advantages and disadvantages of being married. I have someone to rely on. Someone who can talk to me. I share my pain and happiness to him. He's there when I'm sick. I'm there for him as well. We help each other. When I go to market and bought many, he come and fetch me. He holds it and I have nothing to hold. He comfort me and care for me everytime my period comes. He always massage it to ease the pain. But sometimes there are arguments. Being drunk is what I hate the most from him. I keep still when he's drunk. When he's sobber, that's the time I tell what I feel. He can control it now.
I can't find the right words for me to express what I feel. Same to him. So we barely talk if he's upset and I'm upset. The good thing about it is he's the one who talks to me first. Then that's it. We're okay again. Sometimes, we can't avoid having comparisons. But we should not compare. It's not okay.
Having arguments sometimes can help in building our relationship stronger. There will be arguments, misunderstandings and problems even if it's a perfect marriage. Those are all part of making us mature. We can handle it so try to solve it on our own before asking help from others.
What I wrote in here are based on my experience.
"The Commitment"
Never in my life imagined that I will marry at the age of 22. What I know was to have a stable job first and stable life before having a commitment. I wanted to return the favor to my parents. But it went the other way around. Still, I'm okay and no regrets. I'm happy. I thought that my parents will get angry but no. They told me to carry on and get married. No opposition. As long as I have no regrets and I'm happy, they're happy also. I'm an adult so I know what I'm doing, they said.
I was babysitting my nephew back on 2018. My friend told me to go home and attend their barangay's fiest. I told her I can't because I should complete the whole one month to babysit. "When you prepare your store, that's the time I will come." We agreed and waited for the time to come. Our guy friend texted me and jokingly said that, "Umali ka ya ta dakayo nan bouncer kan Bani wen. Amid tay dadakorag nan awak yo." *(You should come home so that you and Bani will become our bouncer because you have big and bulky bodies).* We laughed and said yes. After a month, we went home as planned. She told me to visit the next day and help. So I went the next day. They started early. I was there around 10 am. When I went there, I saw a familiar face.
Ah, he's the "Bani" my guy friend was talking about. I've seen him when we're still young. And saw him again as an adult. He's a year younger than me. When I met him again, it's not obvious that he's younger. He grew up as one fine man. He's handsome, I thought. Had a bulky body back then. He was making a chair when I went to my friend's store. They're preparing the things needed to open up a business. A store and a karaoke room. He just glanced at me when I entered. No interest.
I helped my friends paint the wall. Wow, pink and blue. White ceiling with egg trays so that the sound will not be heard outside. It took 4 days to complete the task. Of course, we have gatherings every night after the work's done. I started to have feelings for him. I always look at him. Finding him if he's not around. He'll never have feelings for me, I told myself. Days went by and my feelings getting stronger. We go for picnics and jammings together that time. Until one day, when we all went home, he texted me. He told me to go to our friend's store. "I don't have someone to go with. It's night time and scared." After few minutes, he told me that he's on the road waiting for me. He came to fetch me. From that time on, we started to have mutual feelings until we became boyfriend/ girlfriend.
I came back to the city and he followed after a few days when his cousin got married. We reunited after two weeks again. His family, relatives and friends have known about our relationship. Mine as well. Our close friends told us that we met each other because of their business. They always tease us. We continued oyr relationship until his grandfather told us to get married. His aunt called me when I was at work and told me that her sister will call me. I had that unusual feeling about it. My heart started to pound fast. Then the call came. I answered and she told me that I need to vacant my schedule so that we will go home and get married.
I blacked out that time. I don't know what to say. Bani will be the one to talk to them. So I waited for him and went to his aunt's house together. He called his grandpa and they talked. He rejected his grandpa's request. "At uway kami ya ivaga mi nu in asawa kami." (We will decide when will we get married.) I thought that it's the end of discussion. No more arguments. The next day, his father came and talked to us. He convinced us again but we said no. His aunt came again. We were both called and they talked to us. I was just quiet and Bani still said no. They can't convince him so they stopped.
From that moment on, we lived together. It was in his aunt's house. We rented the second floor. Months passed and we decided to get married. But first, we bought land where we will put up our house. I called my parents and told them about our plan. They agreed so I went home first and made a reservation to mayor. There's this "karang" that we call. It's like engagement party. It happened last April 25, 2019. It's feeding the community with "wat-wat" or meat of the pig and carabao. We're officially husband and wife on May 8, 2019.
We got married last December 2019. "Ini-ili kasar" or marriage that plays gong and dancing. We planned to have our church wedding on May 2020. But because of this pandemic, it was cancelled. No plan B yet.
That's how we got married. I hope we will have offsprings now.
My Day
I woke up early this morning because of my Dad's call. *"Good morning, darling. Kaanu kayo sumaar ta ipaawit ko nan bagas yo kan manang mo? Wennu awni kt umali kayo shat yo araen?"* (Good morning, darling. When will you come home? Am I going to include your sack of rice to be delivered by your sister? Or you will get it when you come home?)
"We will get it when we go home." "Ok then." After that, he told me to buy a memory card and put on some old country music. Yeah, he's more on country. He loved it eversince. He always sing and it's pleasant to the ear. It's relaxing especially when his voice vibrates. I wish I got that talent from him. Hehe. During his retirement, his co-workers requested him to sing. And he did, I recorded that time. It was way back 2018. I just remembered it so I mentioned it here. Going back, he mentioned the things he wanted me to buy. I wrote everything on my notepad.
After the call, I got up from bed and prepared our breakfast. While cooking, I fed the chicken. The chicks have grown up after a week. They're so adorable that I can stare at them all day.
Meanwhile, I opened my noise.cash account and read their post as well as comment on them then I posted also. I prepared the table after cooking and we ate our breakfast. Cleaned the table as my husband was preparing for work. That's it! Morning's done. He's off to work and I got to prepare myself also.
Before going to town, I heated the water for my bath and browsed my cellphone. Also, I charged it. While charging, I fixed our bed and swept the floor. I wiped the stove, the table and fixed our things. It took 25 minutes to heat the water. I unplugged it and there, I took a bath. Put on some clothes and off to town. Just waited for about 5 minutes and the jeepney came. I hopped on and gave my fare to the driver. Good thing there's no traffic JAM. We arrived just on time.
I went directly to the tailor shop. Gave the pants to be fixed then went to a department store. I bought two long sleeves for my father. Paid it and went to meet my dear friend. We entered to a different department store and checked on some items. We did window shopping. She requested that we will go and eat but it's my treat. I said yes and we went to a fast food chain. I ordered and went to our table. We told stories while eating. We updated each other regarding our lives. I told her to accompany me to find some cheaper refrigerator and washing machine. We found it. I told my brother about it because he's the one to pay.
He sent the money and told me to go and ask if those items can be put on a bus. I called the one who's responsible in writing the names of people having a reservation for travelling. She told me that it can be put on top of the bus or inside if it will fit on the door. I told her that it will be on friday and she said okay. I reserved our seat as well. I called my brother and I said yes. My friend needed to go home so she went home first. I was alone again.
Before going back to the shop, I went to a grocery store and bought what we needed. Then I went back to the shop. They told me to withdraw because there will be no discount if I use the card. I was tired so I rested first before going to a bank. Gone to withdraw then came back again. I paid those items after checking on it. They will deliver it on friday afternoon directly to the bus station.
Atlast, it's done! But wait, I forgot about the memory card. I will go to town this friday again. I'm home now. Done feeding the chicken. I'm currently resting. Later, I will cook for our dinner. I checked how many steps I took this day. Sweat's all over my body. Will take a shower later. Good thing it did not rain. Because I did not get my umbrella when I went to town.
My husband came earlier but went back to where they're working. He just brought back his things. They'll go and prepare their food for tomorrow's work. So I'll enjoy my me time for now. I will prepare his bath later.
"A talent of mine"
Since I was a child, I always wanted to draw. At an early age, I discovered my talent which is drawing. Everytime my mother bring me to school, I sit in an empty seat if one of her pupils did not come to school or I will go to a corner and draw. She kept all my drawings to show me if I will grow up. I still remember the drawing I made which is Lapu-lapu. It's a memorable drawing because all her pupils drew him but mine was the coolest. Hehe. I was very happy back then. With that, I was motivated and inspired to make my drawing more realistic.
When I was in grade 1, our teacher told us to draw at home and bring the next day. I did my best and when I showed it to my teacher, she can't believe her eyes. She told me to draw it again and I did. She was amazed. She thought that it's not my own drawing so she let me repeat the process inorder for her to see it to herself. She smiled at me and appreciated my effort. I told it to my mother after dismissal and she laughed.
I don't have a problem when it comes to art or when the teachers require us to draw. So Arts was my favorite subject that time. During drawing time, some of my classmates tell me to draw it for them. I gladly do it and they always thank me for it. The back of my notebooks and padpapers were full of drawings. Haha. I draw what I see and imagine.
There was this time when one of my mother's pupil challenged me to draw. He told me that we will have a contest to see who draw better. He's in grade 3 and I was in grade 1. Unfair? Nah, I know I can do it. I believed in myself. I accepted the challenge and we drew at the same time. Later that moment, we finished and compared it together. Wow! It's almost the same. I appreciated his and he appreciated mine. There's no winner. Haha. "You really know your thing!" He said. I thanked him and went to our classroom.
One time, my mother asked me to draw and follow the setting of a story of our hometown. I tried doing it and was able to draw. I showed her and told me that it's great. If only I have something to rely on. Hehe.
Not only in primary but also during secondary. We were in 1st year highschool that time. One of my classmate's friend told me to draw using a ballpen. No erasures and no repeating. One chance only. I accepted it also. I did my best so that I will not commit mistakes. Afterwards, we compared it together. I was impressed. He's really good. I accepted my defeat. He's impressed also but his work was much better. I congratulated him.
In highschool, I added sports to my list like badminton and basketball to be specific. These are more of a hobby or skill. Not a talent hehe. I enjoyed playing badminton and joined the provincial meet after winning during district meet. Then basketball was introduced to us. I loved it! We always play during our spare time. I was included as one of the players in our year level. Then in district meet. Also in our barangay team during sports festival. It's a really good game and good excercise. I carried it until college. I joined the team as well but only during the school department sports festival. I tried joining the varsity but only during practice. Not the actual game.
Until now, I still draw. My mom told me that when I was young, all I did was to draw and draw. Everytime I go to her room, that's what I do. It's good to remember the memories back then.
I did painting also but not that good. I'm in the process of improving it. Below are some of my paintings. You can tell by the looks that I'm a newbie. Hehe.
I love Luffy so I always draw or paint him. He's funny and adorable. I hope to master it so that I can paint well. The tutorials in youtube and facebook helped me a lot. I want to discover more so that I will improve and be able to paint a masterpiece😊
Let's appreciate and love our talents that we received. We should enhance it and use for good because it's for our benefit. We have all kinds of talents and hobbies.
Talent is often thought of as the kind of ability that comes without training—something that you’re born with. It is often contrasted with skill, which is an ability acquired and developed through practice. It can also be used to refer to people who are talented (which is the adjective form of talent). This is according to dictionary.
"Thinking Out Loud Once Again"
`Sharing with you how I feel and things in my mind while I'm sitting on our bed. Later, I will go to town to buy vegetables and pork. Also, to buy some things needed by my husband.`
Here we go:
The happiness I feel when somebody reads and comment on my article. The joy of having a company even if its thru writing and reading. It feels that you have someone out there comforting you. Above all, the reward that I receive. I'm thankful for it. It makes me smile and I'm motivated to write more. I'm really glad I met these platforms. It helped me earn an extra income or allowance. I cashed out twice and used to load my customers and charged them 3 or 5 php depending on how much the amount of their load.
Below are the photos of my earnings.
Now I'm currently earning again. Starting from scratch.
Out of joy, I shared it with my friends. I showed them the screenshots of my earnings and told them I cashed out twice. Some gladly accepted and some doubted. Some ignored it but it's okay. Atleast I tried to invite them. I told them about my experience and my two friends agreed to join. Now they're also earning and writing their own articles. They're in noise.cash too. They thanked me for introducing it to them. They're glad too! The joy of giving and sharing. I'm happy because they're happy as well.
The moment I met these platforms, I barely open my facebook account because my attention now is to writing. I shared this also in my noise.cash account. First thing I said when they told me about this was that "I don't know what to write." But when I tried and did my best, I did it! I was able to publish. I write what I feel and let it out in order for me to have peace of mind. These platforms helped me also decrease my stress. The games installed on my phone are not played because I don't have any desire left to play. I'm planning to uninstall my games to free some space.
I was able to find myself again. Able to think back and remember the past I've been through. The heartaches, problems, struggles, love, happiness, and many more that I've experienced on my journey to what I am right now. These memories made me cry, laugh, and sigh. I can't believe I experienced those. The hardships I encountered were all written in this platform. Maybe I missed something and not able to write it.
Without these platforms, what am I doing now? Maybe I'm with my old self. Maybe I'm still playing the games on my phone. Maybe I'm with friends telling stories. Maybe I'm in town roaming around. And maybe I'm at home sitting. Instead of doing those, I rather write my articles. These platforms became my best buddies. I can tell them what I feel. I can share with them the things I am feeling. Using a pseudonym helped me in releasing my emotions. It motivated me to express what I feel.
Looking back with my past articles, I can't imagine what I've been through. With this, I can inspect and go over again with the past articles. It seems that I wrote my life in here. Hehe. When the time is right, I will copy all my articles to put it altogether and make it as a book. It will be my remembrance to this platform. More writing in the future. More inspiration and experience to write. More articles to publish and share. We enjoy writing as well as earning.
Few days from now, we'll be going back to our hometown. The signal there is unstable sometimes but I will try my best to find way in order for me to post and to be with you.
There are many things on my mind but I will stop from here. Because if I write everything, maybe it'll take hours to read. Haha. Just kidding.
"A Place Where We Always Be"
Going back to the place where we used to live. It's where we started everything. Where I finished my Primary, Elementary and Secondary. Where my precious memories are. Where we grew up and where we spent almost of our lives. Even if we move far from it, we still go back and visit. I love everything about this place. The people, the river, the mountains, the fields, the hotspring and many more. It's what we call hometown. Our beloved hometown.
According to Cambridge Dictionary, hometown is **"**the town or city that a person is from, especially the one in which they were born and lived while they were young".
We visited last April 30 due to our grandmother in law's death anniversary the next day. Her children were all present. Some of my husband's cousins came also. My grandfather in law was very happy when we went to his place. He gladly welcomed us all. His smile was priceless. I could see his longing to his children and grandchildren. Because of this pandemic, we were not able to go home during the death of his wife. But now that the lockdown was lifted, we were able to go home.
We seated for hours telling stories and doing stuff. After that, I went to visit my dear friend because she's in the neighborhood. I shared about these platforms and she gladly accepted it. Now, she's my affiliate and was able to publish an article also. She's happy because I introduced it to her. She spends her time writing instead of just playing games if she have spare time. I encouraged her to write and write. After some time, we went and ate snack. Then I went back to my grandfather in law's house and called my husband in order for us to go home.
The next morning, together with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, we went back and helped in cooking, doing the household chores as well as slicing the pork for "pancit". The people started to gather until lunch time. I also helped in reaching out the paper plates where the food was. We call this in our dialect as "warag". Distributing the foods to people. Helping each other until everybody have their own food in hand. Some went home and some stayed until we finished our lunch. We rested while the younger ones did the washing. After finishing the work, they went to the river. Unfortunately, it rained so they came back quickly. They still enjoyed it even if it's a short period of time.
If only the students finished their module, they will stay longer. Grandfather wants to spend more time with them but because of module, he can't. They all went back to the city after three days. I stayed because I have something to do. So when my husband went to the city, I went to my parents' house and stayed there for two days. My sister and I were able to visit our school during highschool. It's very different from our time. The school premises and the school buildings changed. A big change. It was developed. By the way, we used a motorcycle going up to Sangey, our school. After two days, I came back to the city as well.
I really missed my hometown. I went and took a bath in the Maatong Hotspring. Also in Matamnay, where the water flows coming from the trees. It's cold and refreshing. This is where the people wash their laundry, wash the dishes, get their drinking water and where people take a bath as well. I'm so glad I was able to go home again. It's where my parents and in laws live so I was able to visit them. I enjoyed my time staying there. Like they said, "there's no place like home." Few days from now, we will go back again with my husband. Gonna rest and have a vacation for two weeks maybe.
I LOVE MY HOMETOWN.
IT'S NOT WHERE I LIVE NOW BUT
I WILL GO BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN
TO VISIT.
There are several songs about our hometown. Some of the people composed a song about it. It's pleasing to the ear. Let's appreciate the place where we came from and where we grew up. Even if we can't visit or go back, let's not forget about it. Be proud! 'Til next time...
Parents' Undeniable Love
I love my mother. 🥰
I love my father. 🥰
A mother's love for her children is indeed priceless. Even if they do something wrong, she still accepts and love them. The children always find the mother first. "Where's mom? Where did she go? What she's doing?" Questions that children ask upon coming home. She sacrifices for the sake of her children. She will do everything for her children's sake in order for them to have a bright future. But sometimes, we children, abuse our parents' love wherein we tend to make it as our advantage and do whatever we want. We ask for more, more and more and more.
Our parents love us dearly. They do everything they can for our sake and bright future. They wanted us to have a good life as we partake from them. But sometimes, we don't follow and listen to them. Instead, we do what we wanted. I know that they cry their hearts out but don't show it to us. Our main problem is financial aspect. They give us if we ask from them. But when will we repay them? When will we think about giving back what we borrowed from them? Wake up! Not because they're our parents does not mean that we don't have to give them back the money that we borrowed. Come on, we're grown ups already and have own family.
When will we think about their troubles and problems also? Instead of making it easy for them, we do the other way around. We give them more problems to face. More credits and loans to pay. More headaches for them. But when they tell what they want us to be, we still do what we wanted. We tell them that they are wrong. We want to prove them that we can be in the right path. But it's not! We're on the opposite side of doing good. My siblings and I were like this. We abused our hardworking parents.
I know that we can't repay what they did to us. But if we can, we must do it. They are getting older each day. I really want to ease their pains, solve their problems, and wanted them to spend their life to the fullest because their obligations to us are done. Some of us have our own family and some are still single.
As a child, I really wanted to tell my siblings not to add more to their problems. But what can I do? I'm the last child. We're all grown ups and have our own head to think. Maturity is really needed for all of us. I just want them not to be in pain. As much as possible, we will depend on our own family.
My mother will be the one to give up for our sibling's happiness. She will be the one to adjust. She will no longer participate in any of the activities. She will just go to the church and pray. No more handling of other stuffs because she's embarrased that her children don't obey and follow her path. She's embarrased that for the long years she's been through, this is how we repay her. She's hurt and cried. But did not show to anyone. She wanted to stay strong.
Oh, what a mother's love we have. Parents' love to us. When will we come to realize their sacrifices to us? When will we know its worth? Please, let's wake up my dear siblings. They're not getting yong any longer. Let's do what it takes to make them happy.
I can't hold my emotions as I was writing this article. I'm crying because it hurts inside. With a heavy heart, I was able to come up with this post. I really hope and pray that everything's gonna be alright.
😥Everything's gonna be alright!😥
What I call a Hindrance
I don't remember when I started having sinusitis but I had it since I was a child. At first, what I know is just colds. It's normal because I'm still a kid. But growing up, and moving forward, I realized that it's not normal anymore. Then that's the time I knew I had a problem with my nose which is called sinusitis. I easily catch a cold during winter. I breath thru my mouth. But sometimes I use my nose especially when I'm in public because I'm ashamed of having my mouth opened and my throat becomes dry.
It was in highschool when I heard my sister saying that I snored. I shrugged and kept quiet. I snore maybe because of being fat and having sinusitis. Then one morning after waking up, my sister said that my snore was very loud that it could be heard in the other room. I told her I was sorry because I didn't know. I didn't do it intentionally. Sometimes I snore loudly, sometimes I don't. They suggested to lie down on my side not my back. *"You snore because you're so fat!"*
I was relieved when my siblings went to college and was left alone at home. But of course I'm with my parents. I occupied the 2nd and 3rd floor of our house. I slept where I wanted. I found freedom because nobody will be disturbed with my snore. My parents' bedroom was in first floor so they can't hear me snore. But then I finished highschool and followed them to the city.
There was this time in college when I was in the clinic of our school. I went there to get my temperature checked and the school nurse asked me if I have colds. I told her that I don't have it. *"This is normal to me as I have sinusitis"*, I told her. She was about to hit my shoulder but did not do it. She said, *"What? That's what you call normal? Don't be ridiculous."* And I just laughed. She then told me to consult a doctor for proper consultation and remedy.
I consulted a doctor and he prescribed a medicine. He told me what to do. He also told me to go to a specialist and undergo an operation if there will be no effect. He gave me a recommendation letter to a specialist. I used the prescribed medicine for a month until no more. No effect at all. After that, I went to see the specialist but he was not there. And I never came back.
I also tried accupuncture. It really helped in unclogging my nose. But because it's expensive, I tried it only three times. There was this thing also that I tried which has herbal medicine to drink after they apply it but I forgot what it's called. It looked like a ballpen but it's not. The shape looks like a ballpen but no ink. It's not light, there's weight on it. It also helped but I did not continue also because the person administering it lived to a place away from our place. I tried everything they told me except operation.
Sometimes when I talk to someone, they ask me if I'm having colds but I say no. *"Why do you breath loudly? It seems that you're so tired. Use your nose not your mouth."* Yeah, I want that too but what can I do? I hardly breath if I use my nose.
I snore when I sleep. That's the problem of people when they're with me.*"I can't sleep at night because of your loud snore. Can you do something about it? It's very annoying!"* It hurts but I can't do something about it. Some people are sensitive. With a soft noise, they can be awaken. It seems that their ears are always on guard. Those are the people I want to avoid as much as possible because of my situation.
I always try not to snore but I can't. It's not that I do it intentionally. I'm sorry. I always feel guilty. Some also say that my snore makes the house shake. They always wake me up if they can't tolerate it. Some of my friends and relatives recorded the sound of my snore and they told me to hear it. I kept quiet because of I was ashamed. *"It's loud, I'm sorry for the disturbance."*
That's one reason why I sleep late at night. I want them to sleep first before I sleep also. Until it became a habit and sometimes I hardly fall asleep at night. Maybe that's one of the reason why my eyes became weak because of facing the gadgets. I prefer to sleep alone because I don't want to disturb anybody. I wish that I occupy the room alone especially when we're having outing. I don't want to be a burden just because of my snore. I rather hear them snore.
I got married and I forgot about my snore. Then one time, my husband told me that I snore. *"Sorry, I forgot to tell you about it."* I let him sleep first before I sleep also because I don't want to disturb him and I want him to rest to replinish his energy. At first, he complained about it but as the days, months and year passed by, he was accustomed to it. I seldom hear him complain.
I hope that I can overcome it. I'm afraid of having operation because it's not 100% sure that it will be removed. Hearing from people with experience in sinusitis might help.
Know Your Worth
My own way of understanding one's worth. It's not that perfect but atleast I know how, what, when and why is it important to know your worth. Because of my experiences, I was able to come up with these ways on how to know my worth.
Some of the tips I want to share.
Self-respect
Respect starts from within. You should respect yourself for others to respect you also. If you don't know how to respect yourself, don't expect someone to respect you.
Abilities
Recognize your own abilities. Once you know your ability, you can enhance and develop it for your own benefit. It's easier to accomplish things if you know your capabilities. Don not underestimate your ability because once you find it and enhance it, it will last forever. Nobody can steal it from you.
Strenghts and Weaknesses
You're the one who knows your strengths and weaknesses. It's just a matter of finding it and weighing it. You use your strength as advantage especially when you apply for a job. If you have weaknesses, try to overcome it until it will become your strength as well. Don't be discouraged.
Priorities
Everybody has its own priorities. But we should prioritize the things that benefits us more. It's not being selfish or self-centered but knowing how to prioritize things. What comes first, second and so on. When you know your priorities, you will not find it hard to do what comes first. Once you know it, it's easier to accomplish.
Love
You can't feel the love if you yourself don't know how to love. You should love yourself first before loving others. Loving yourself helps in finding who you truly are. You find yourself being able to commit on what you do even if others tend to discourage you.
Realization comes at the end of every situation you encountered. Sometimes it makes you realize that it's a bad choice, sometimes it's a good choice. But because of that realization, you tend to change what is bad and never repeat the mistakes you've done. And with that, you will be able to know your worth. By knowing those things alone can make you love yourself even more. You will begin to realize and come to a conclusion that you're worth it.
You're more than capable of doing things that will make you happy. Nobody can make you happy and make you realize how your life is worth living for. It comes within you. It's just a matter of looking back and knowing how to do it. I know that you know your own worth. Let's find ourselves.
My Encounter
At first, I heard my sisters talked about cryptocurrencies. I can't relate so I kept my mouth shut. I did not ask about it as I was not interested. I let them talk and discuss about BitcoinCash. They were very happy because of the tips they got. I thought, "Tips about what? Why would somebody give them tips?" Do you know what tip I was thinking? To give a piece of advice. Yes, that's what I know that time. Days passed by and I read the chat in our group chat about BitcoinCash again as well as the other cryptocurrencies. I really don't understand what they were saying.
One time my older sister visited me at home. We talked about something while I was removing the weeds in our frontyard. Then she said, do you have coins.ph account? I told her that I uninstalled it and she said to install again. Never mind, I said. I will not use it so what's the use? She became quiet. After that, she told me that there were these platforms that she joined where she can earn BitcoinCash. I ignored what she said 'cause I'm really not interested. Good for you, I said.
I always read and hear about cryptocurrencies from my sisters. They don't have any other topics. With that, I got curious. I asked my older sister about it and she told me. I really can't understand what she's saying. Step by step, she explained to me until I was able to recover my coins.ph account. She then told me to create an account in noise.cash and read.cash. I shrugged and said, for what? She then explained again as I can't get what she's saying.
After explaining, I created my account in noise.cash and read.cash. "What will I do next?" She forwarded the screenshots of her posts in noise.cash for me to see and follow. I did what she told me until I understood. She told me to post in noise.cash and she will give me a tip. "That word again, ughhh! Why is it important to give me a tip? For what?" She laughed because it seems that she knew what I was thinking. "It's not the tip that you think!" With that, I got what she meant. "Ah, money? Ok, I got it. Hahahaha. I thought advice."
What will I post? I don't know anything about BCH. What if I post nonsense? "Relax, you can search online then tell something about it on your own words then you will post it. Just don't copy. It must be original and came directly from you." Ok, I'll try. Then I started typing until I finished and clicked "post". There, I got it. I was able to post in noise.cash after having some idea from my sister's post and from google. Then I opened read.cash and wrote about my troubles. I was able to publish an article and I was so happy.
Wow! I'm thankful. After 5 days, I was given free tips so I returned the favor. She encouraged me to post and post. I was happy to join these platforms. I hope to gain for future use. I'm thankful I met these platforms. Thank you for introducing it to me, sister.
Just thinking about the things I'm doing if I did not encounter these platforms. I wonder how.
Life must go on
Experience as a child
I was cute and chubby when I was young. So my friends and classmates teased me saying that I'm a pig. I look like one. Sometimes I cry when they tease me because of being fat. They just don't know how I feel. But at least I feel secured and loved at home.
My dad always bring me to the hospital because of my asthma. I always cough so they prohibited me from playing outside because of dust that I might inhale. But it did not stop me from playing with my friends. We played *"tumbang preso"*, *"patintero"*, *"luksong baka"* *at iba pa*. So everytime I went home, they scolded me nonstop.
We went back to the hospital and the doctor said that the smoke of cigarettes triggered my asthma. He told my father to stop smoking as he was a chainsmoker. With that being said, my father stopped smoking. Then I recovered. My asthma was gone. But still I have a hard time climbing stairs or running. I hardly breath. Still, I kept on running. We hike everyday to go to school because we were in the province.
Sometimes I focus my attention to drawing. One time, my teacher can't believe that it was my drawing so she told me to draw it again. When she saw it, she was surprised at the same time amazed of my skill. I told it to my mother after class and she laughed. Yes, I know how to draw. My classmates always tell me to draw during art class time. I'm happy to help so I did it. Share my blessing, I thought.
I remembered being bullied by my classmate when we were in Grade 4. She told me that she will beat me if I will not do her class activities. Because of fear, I accomplished everything she said. My other classmates noticed it and they warned me not to do her activities or else they will tell it to our teacher. But they stopped because Mae Ann (let's just say that it is her name) widened her eyes at them and they became quiet.
One time, I had a scratch on my foot when I bumped at one of the gym post. At first, I thought that it will heal easily. But because of Mae Ann always touching it if I don't do what she says, it became severe. It was very painful so I cried silently. I can't take it anymore so I ran to my mother's room and told her about it. Then she talked to her after dismissal. She told her that we are cousins so she should not bully me anymore. "Don't you have conscience seeing your classmate cry whenever you bully her?" She was very silent and never uttered any word. After that, she never came to me again.
I'm still chubby during high school up to present. They teased me also in highschool but I just ignored it. Even if they tease me, they're still my friends. I joined sports like badminton, table tennis, basketball and volleyball. I just love sports especially basketball.
I tried taking slimming pills during college and after college. There was a change because of exercises that we do during our training in basketball but because of lack of money, I did not continue it. Last year, I tried it again but not able to continue because I forget to take it sometimes so it's useless. I stopped and focused on jogging. Unfortunately, I stopped again.
Now, I'm trying to exercise again. I bought some exercising tools. I want to do it regularly for healthy body and road to fitness. I also accomplish what the "Jovi Smart" application on my phone requires me to do. Like for example, I should accomplish 2kms of jogging daily and 6000 steps. My husband always encourages me to exercise in order for me to conceive. I hope I can do it.
What did I learn in Life?
In life, there comes a time that you feel incomplete and complete. Why? Maybe you feel incomplete because of the things you were not able to achieve. And maybe you feel complete because you satisfied your needs. What I'm trying to say is that life is indeed imperfect. We can't be on top if we did not experience the challenges and struggles of life where you learn lessons. There is no success without fail. You meet people as you go on your journey. Some will stay and some will go. They will be your friends and enemies.
What can I say about it?
Life's a wheel. Sometimes you're on top, sometimes you're in the bottom. It takes a lot to become succesfull but with just a little mistake, it will fail and crash. We really can't tell what happens next. But you yourself can make it. Don't be dismayed even if you fail because that's part of it. Take it slowly until you reach your goal.
I can't say if I'm succesful right now. What I know is that I'm still in the process of achieving something that is worth my sweat and sacrifices.
The Journey of Achievements
Eversince I started my studies, I received awards. It made my parents proud. And of course, I'm very proud of myself as well.
Primary
During our Pre-school, we were divided into two classes, morning and afternoon. I was in the afternoon class. When graduation came, I garnered first place. I felt very proud of myself for that achievement even at a young age. Months passed and we moved to Grade 1 with two sections. I was in section B. Some of my classmates from Pre-school were in section A and some are with my section. When awarding came, I was in 2nd place in our section. After Grade 1, we moved to Grade two with two sections again. We were in section A. If I remember it correctly, I was in 2nd place again. It felt good because of my achievements.
It happened that our adviser in Grade III section A was my mother when we entered. I topped the class in my section. Because of that, I heard rumors and harsh words from people especially my classmates. They said that I placed 1st because of my mother. "She don't deserve it. It's unfair! How come she placed first? She made her daughter as 1st place." Hearing those rumors made me cry.
"Why don't they accept it? I know to myself that I deserved it because I did my best and not because of the help of my mother. I was an honor student since Pre-school so it is not shocking if I placed first. My fellow honor students during Grade 2 were all in section B. They chose to go there." These made me stronger and more confident to do well in my studies.
Moving on, we entered Grade IV. At first, there were two sections. But in the middle of school year, we were combined because our adviser became the school principal at that time. So when the awarding came, I placed 4th. I proved that I'm an honor student.
But when we were in Grade V, I was not able to be part of honorols. I was very sad because the policy that time was when there is line of 7 in the grade, the student will not be imcluded on the list. Why is it that I'm not included? I will tell you.
Our history teacher or shall I say HKS because that's what it called back then was one of the teachers that have favorite students. Unfortunately, I was not included on her list. My grade were all line of 9 and some were line of 8 but above 85 and she's the only one who gave me 79. My mother told me that it happened to my sisters as well. I was devastated because I really did my best but my best wasn't good enough for her. Because of that grade, I was not included on the honor list so only four of our classmates were awarded.
It was our last year in elementary. So I told myself to enjoy and do my best. That time, we were the ones to choose our section thru drawlots. Maybe it's fate or call it what you want because I got section B wherein the adviser was our HKS teacher. I just shrugged my shoulders upon entering the room. It seems that my energy was drained. What a day, I thought.
She always tell comments about me. It made me feel uneasy and uncomfortable. I don't understand if she hates me that much so I told myself that I will prove myself to her again and again. And I really did. Unfortunately, I'm last. She gave me the lowest points. But still, I'm happy to be part of the list. She personally congratulated me after she ranked the honorols. I was thankful for it.
Secondary
Moving forward again, we're in high school. Some of our classmates from elementary transferred to other schools. We met new faces coming from different barangays. Again, two sections and I was in section A that time. I placed 2nd during the awarding ceremony.
We joined school clubs when we're in 2nd year highschool, sports and organizations. We got extracurricular points that was included in the ranking. After that, I placed third.
During our 3rd year, we were combined because some of our classmates dropped out from school and some transferred. It was enjoyable because of many activities and happenings in our school. We attended every activities and contests where we gained extra points. Having only 1 section, I placed 4th. Still, not bad.
Senior year came and we're still in one section. It's the last year of high school so we enjoyed every bit of it. We attended activities as well as contests happened outside school. I was selected as the representative for Ms. Senior when JS Promenade came. It's more enjoyable than when we're in 3rd year.
We enjoyed our school days. We had fun, arguments, troubles and sometimes misunderstandings. But in the end, we are one, we relied on each other until we finished high school. And by the way, I was in 3rd place.
Tertiary
After highschool, we went on our own path. Some went to other place to study, some remained in our province. And for some, unfortunately, got married early. For me, I went to Baguio City and enrolled in UC. But then, I just finished my first year college and went back to our province. I enjoyed my college years because I was with my friends and batchmates from highschool. We were able to overcome the struggles as well as the stress until we graduated. We finished the first step of our career. Again, my parents were very proud. I'm so thankful to God and to my family. They supported me in my journey. I was grateful and happy even if I did not receive any awards.
Having ups and downs, I was able to pass the board examination after graduation. I'm thankful to God because of the blessings he have given me. He's always there for me. I finished my degree and I'm a professional now but still waiting for employment. I hope to be employed next year.
PROBLEMS with Solutions
We have problems in life that sometimes bring us down. But we should not let it conquer ourselves. We should fight it. For me, I have problems that I'm encountering right now. And I really do hope that I will overcome it and it will be solved.
Employment and Financial
How can I just let the days pass by without having job that provides salary? Being a housewife is still a job but you don't receive salary. I really wanted to help my husband in providing foods on the table as well as the money. I can't save money from the wage of my husband 'coz it's just enough to spend for our daily needs and allowance.
I told myself that I should work because what's the purpose of having a degree if I don't work it out. But I'm not saying that because you have a degree, you should have a work that corresponds to the degree you have taken. We have our own preferences, some might prefer having a business, some wanted to be on private sectors and some prefers government agencies. For me, I prefer having a stable job or permanent employment.
I tried applying to other jobs but failed. So maybe, I will focus on what I passed, which is an Elementary Teacher. I will continue looking for a job until I'm stable and employed. With that, I'm in the process of completing the requirements needed.
Pregnancy
Employment is not my only problem, pregnancy also. At first, I thought that I'm pregnant right after we got married because my period was delayed. My period was never delayed since the day it started. I tried the pregnancy test for 3 times but the same result, negative. With that, we went to a health center to extract blood then they will test it if I'm pregnant or not because they said that it's more accurate than the PT, but it is still negative (I forgot the term for that blood extraction.)
I tried the TVS then the OB explained the result. She said that I have PCOS so it's hard to get pregnant. Well, many women with PCOS were still able to conceive. It's just a matter of losing weight. Because of the result, nagreseta na siya ng mga gamot. Moving forward, after taking it, biglang lumabas ang dugo to the point na nahilo ako pero hindi natumba. It went down to my feet then floor. I thought, baka epekto ng gamot lalo na dahil di ako nadatnan last month. But it's a big mistake. Dapat pala that time we consulted a doctor. Because after that, the length of my period was 2-3 weeks. It's not normal. I consulted another OB after how many months but did not give any medicine.
I want to stop taking medicines so we tried other solutions. So I hope that it will also help. We're trying everything in order for us to have kids. It's not that easy but we're doing our best. I really should lose some pounds to lessen the fats in my belly and maybe, my PCOS will be gone. Hoping to have kids.
I stop right here😃
Thank you for reading!
Employment
Here we go again, hoping for something. Praying that my wishes will be granted. I hope for the better. Everyday is a challenge. A new start and a new beginning.
I've been a housewife for almost 2 years now. Taking face to face tutorials at home as a part time job. Everyday I ask myself, "When will you be employed? When will you start to save money? When will you apply what you've finished? You're just wasting your time!"
I finished my studies a few years back but not yet employed. I experienced being a cashier while waiting for the result of our board exam. After passing, I did part time jobs as a Tutor, face to face and online teaching. Why not continue to online teaching? Well, internet is the problem. We don't have it at home. What am I doing now? At home, doing household chores. Why not try to apply to other jobs?
I tried passing my application sa ibang agencies not related to my course. Unfortunately, I was not accepted. I tried it again pero hindi talaga. My friends told me to go back to our hometown so that we will all apply in school. But due to this pandemic, I was not able to go home. Lumilipas ang araw, nasasayang na rin.
Then I realized that why not continue on what I finished. But then, it's late. They said, pass your application again next year. "What did you do sa mga nakaraang taon na ito? We don't have applicants last year. Why did you not submit your folders earlier for you to be accomodated? Sinayang mo nanaman ang isang taon." Napa-isip ako, "Oo nga no. Sinayang ko ang pagkakataon. Sinayang ko ang opportunities. Then I came to realize that "nasa huli ang pagsisisi" is indeed true!
When I got home, I told my husband about it. Then he said, "I told you, you will regret it. But don't worry, time will come that you will be employed. Just wait for it. Don't lose hope. You can do it. I will always be here, rooting for you!" With that, I was encouraged. I told him that I will not disappoint him again.
I told myself that if opportunity comes around, I will definitely grab it. I hope that when next time comes, I will be able to be part of it. Sana ma-employ na ako.
Looking for a job is not easy as 1 2 3. Take it slow. Rejection is part of it. Everything has a reason. Let's just hope for a better. Don't give up. Maybe someone is there waiting for you to knock on their doors. But then again, let's try our best until we reach our goals. Don't lose hope! Maybe not now, not today, but tomorrow.
Trouble - run away
People come and go. Some will stay, some will leave. Everybody has something that they want to keep. Something that they cherish. Yet, we have problems and troubles.
In life, time will come when you feel down. When you feel troubled. When you feel alone. When you feel the world turned its back on you. People will look down on you. They let you feel that you're nothing. The feeling that you're all alone. Nobody feels you. It seems that you want to tell someone about how you feel but you're scared because you're not sure if they will listen to you. Afraid that they will use that against you.
My friend, don't be like that. You know for yourself that you can't keep it all by yourself. You know for a fact that it's not okay to keep it all. It will kill you inside. It will eat you. IT'S NOT OKAY! That's why we have what we call family, relatives and friends.
You know what, it's better to have someone. Someone who's ready to listen. Someone who can lend their shoulders. Someone whom you trust. Someone whom you can share it with. That someone is out there ready for you. Let that someone feel you. Let them accompany you with your troubles. Let them help you. And maybe, you will feel at ease. You will have peace of mind. You will find your smile back.
Sometimes, being alone is okay. You're able to express your feelings. You can cry, laugh, get angry and just let your emotions go away. You can reflect on yourself. You can do the things you want to do. But my friend, don't forget that you need someone. When you feel that you can't keep it, better tell someone.
But hey, don't worry. We have someone that cares for us. Someone who's ready to listen. He's always there to help and guide us. He's everything that we need. He's everything that we hope for. He's our everything. He's above all.
We will be saved. We will be protected. We will always be loved. Believe in Him. Nothing is impossible. Just believe, trust and pray. Everything will be alright. Everything has a reason why it happened. But keep in mind that if you can't hold it, let it be. Let it pass.
Don't let the negativity resides in you. Let it out. Let it go away. Don't keep it but put it away. New hope, new beginning, new tomorrow. New you, new life. Let the troubles run away from you. Stand up, put a smile, then live! Start anew, reset your life, delete all the negativities.
Thank you y'all😊
I hope for the better. Until next time. See yah!
