Simple Ledger Protocol's Joint Statement Regarding Bitcoin ABC on BCH's November 2020 Upgrade
The SLP Foundation sees a decentralized node landscape as crucial for the stability and longevity of Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and by extension the SLP token ecosystem. https://read.cash/@sha256_88ebd526/bitcoin-cash-bch-november-2020-upgrade-statement-f7c03159 Our goal is to make Bitcoin Cash the best token ecosystem to build on top of. A split does not align with this mission. SLP Foundation and SLP entities maintaining the infrastructure and ecosystem issue this joint statement: **We do not consider a protocol that redirects coinbase rewards to be Bitcoin Cash (BCH), especially when such a rule was announced unilaterally.** This action by Bitcoin ABC was carried out without prior discussion with the wider BCH ecosystem, and is a sudden deviation from every other Bitcoin Cash node implementation. Therefore by forking economic changes on its own volition, ABC is also no longer a project that aligns with Bitcoin Cash's values and principles. **We will support SLP infrastructure development on Bitcoin Cash, not on a fork of Bitcoin Cash by ABC.** We will continue our work with collaborating with the large array of BCH node softwares that have chosen to collaborate rather than fork. Put simply, in our view, all of SLP's critical infrastructure and partners should carry on uninterrupted supporting BCH. Will the SLP Foundation reconsider their position if ABC gets miner support and funding? Until we know who miners will side with, taking a position seems premature. I think some are too focused on the path and not enough on the end-goal. What if ABC gets the funding? Between a well funded CTO-driven project and an underfunded community-driven project, I know who I would bet on to deliver P2P digital cash first. This may jeopardize the SLP Foundation from being at the forefront of the tokenized economy. Also I'm curious, would it be technically possible for the SLP Foundation to support both chain in a fork scenario?
1) Entities didn't take positions during the BSV fork, that didn't go so well. We do have history to look back upon. 2) To get funding, the ecosystem has to look unified, taking a neutral position is the best way to push BCH towards a constant tug of war. SLP Foundation and other nodes are well funded for a good while, and we expect to attract more funding as we professionalize around the core values of Bitcoin Cash, including P2P cash, and DEFI, NFTs, smart contracts and so much more. Certainly redirecting the block reward to a single address is a gigantic economic change to Bitcoin that makes BCH look untrue to its original promise of Bitcoin. 3) The inability of ABC to reach out and collaborate with other node implementations is hindering what we can do with SLP technology. We have every intention of being the "forefront" of the tokenized economy. 4) It is undesirable for the foundation to support two versions of each software we help maintain. We really did not want to get involved, but not making this statement would put the future of SLP at risk.
Thanks for the response. As someone who plans to launch a project that will rely on tokens, I can't take the risk to launch on a blockchain that 1) doesn't have a clear roadmap to deliver P2P digital cash than scale globally and, 2) hasn't secured the necessary resources to execute on this roadmap. If ABC were to get miners' support with the new IFP, it will fit these two criteria. I can't say the same about other Bitcoin Cash implementations.

The miners get to decide, not you.
They get to decide on top of what chain they operate. You're free to fork their software and support the infrastructure on whatever chain you want.

I created and own a variety of SLP tokens. I do not appreciate the foundation and wallet developers choosing a path that may not be supported by the majority of mining hash and exchanges. You may end up causing damage to my projects and investments by choosing an untested and weak minority fork instigated by an anti-BCH team looking to harm BCH.
