The Doctor's Journey Many are called and few are chosen but the work is plenty To pick up the white coat is a call to service, saving humanity. Years of tempering, pages eaten in place of food. The brain is never full. Recruits into the white army are only successful when they're locked down by the oath. Everyday is the same, depending on what come may. Look, tell and treat, then repeat. Armed with pills, books, stethoscope and nurses. They do their best and hope it's rest. Stuck in a office or free to roam, the work is the same. Save as many as so, tho, sad, can't be all. Adorned with white and maybe a glass, hardly one without special eyes, they guard the door against the black fiend. Healing is their motto, it works for most sometimes not. Even then, the likeness with Jesus is quite thin. Sometimes no risk, most times yes. They may be incapacitated emotionally, physically or legally. Even then they're are doctors that swore the oath. It is what he is trained for, great power bestowed on him, therein great responsibility. So help them God, but then they pray for and work on you.

My Little Birdie The fair, the cute, the hot, she is all of that. Don't bother showing me another, I won't spare a glance. She is my little birdie. Dainty she is, both delicate and charming. Yes I said she's pretty, aren't you listening, she is my little birdie. She is oblivious of all these, when I point it out, she sees me exaggerating. I tell her the truth and she turns away blushing. My little birdie. I call her mine but then she's free to fly. You don't cage who you love, better free and loving than caged and bearing. Doesn't mean I'm scared if she says it is time. Yes I so love my little birdie.

The Lockdown I wrote this a long time for a magazine , it never got published. Do enjoy . As of 2019, December, corona virus was only native to China, before it began it's spread to other countries in the new year. Nigeria amongst other African countries were the last hit in March. This has not been the first global pandemic, since there is no available vaccine or cure, coupled with the mode of transmission, a global lockdown was envisaged. A lockdown simply represented the forceful and lawful ban on all forms of movement, thereby forcing citizens of respective countries to their respective homes. This also included the shutdown of several businesses, cinematic houses and other entertainment establishments. Travels both internally and internationally was included in the lockdown measure. This global house arrest affected many walks of life including education, life was brought to a standstill of some sorts; educationally, religiously, socially or recreationally and financially. The restrictive measure was for a good cause as limited socially contact controlled the impact of the outbreak on the civilians, making the disease easily managed. This however introduced economic hardship on the people, the most hit being the poor and the middle class. Dependent on salary and savings, standard of living had taken a fall. Even with the introduction of palliatives, life was still difficult. What could have been differently is a question a concerned individual would ask, as we try to find our stand in the affairs of back to normal, with the threat still real and looming, could we still been safe and keep living as we were? Unfortunately no matter how we look at it, the lockdown was a necessary course of action. However during this period, food availability and procurement was the main issue. Electricity and water also took precedence. If l was at the helm of affairs of a country, these would have been on top level priority, the aim is to control the spread of the infection, thus making it easy for health personnel to handle already infected cases. The three things l aforementioned are the basic needs which would make an individual to risk his health. Prevention is better than cure. Local farm production and marketing would have been encouraged to ease the effect of hunger on the population. The farmers in different region would be recognized by the government to receive a periodic stipend to further stem down the cost of food. They would be sensitized with health guidelines so as to keep themselves while discharging their servitude to the populace. Each household of course will also be enforced to plant or rear within their reach. This had been done during the reign of President Olusegun Obasanjo with the programme"Operation Feed The Nation" in 19. Not just the supply of electricity and water needs increment, these social amenities would need to be free to the public during the period. Payment of bills by the citizenry need to be borne by the government pending a systematic resumption of normal state of affairs. The people's needs comes first. Suspension or reduction in tax rate and loans would also be considered but a weekly stipend to each censured adult would be something to look into. The idea of palliatives though thoughful was rather inadequate and rather had a poor supply round a state's citizenry. Their source of income has been seized for the time being, it is only fair for a system to be put in place to ease the effect on the community. Leadership is not an easy feat, everyone put in charge by election or appointment is called to serve in the best interest of the people. This is not easy as several challenges lie in every well thought decision. However this is the path l would tow, credence for paying attention to the upgrade of health care services and utilization of the internet to make things work. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is my own perspective on the economic welfare of the people.

The Fragile Thread- Part Two Out of the many people whom I knew was claimed by death, I have only shed tears for two. Let me share my story once more. The day I received the news of the death of Stan Lee, was the first day I cried. It is quite funny that I'm crying for a stranger but I am a marvel fan and a lover of Spiderman. That was his greatest creation according to him. I adored the hero, and I admired who brought it to life. Got over the shock the next day, was to write an exam. Lol. Besides, he died at a fulfilled age of 95. The second time involved my primary school mate, Ephraim. Funny story, we weren't friends till we got in a fight. I had enough of his teases of me being fat. We bonded afterwards and became friends. We met from time to time and he always gave me his blessing, told me how happy he was that his friend is going to be a doctor. Our last meeting was in a wedding, made jokes as usual but in his own funny way charged me to take my dream seriously. How I was to know that would be the last time I'd ever see him. Took me over a week to get over the loss, talkless of crying. Till this day I still feel his absence. As I said in my earlier write-up, nothing is as fragile as life. With life, nothing is fixed, it's damn susceptible to change, especially with the people that become part of your circle in different parts of your life. They may not necessarily be your friends, but they're your associates and colleagues. And man being a social being, we end up forming connections with these people, mostly good. Sometimes we do take these associations for granted, we don't see their value until we lose them. Form the habit of checking on some of these folks once in awhile, do avoid holding grudges, forgiveness is better. Most importantly, remember the golden rule, do unto others what you would like to be done to you, bruv.

The Heart Not the smallest but quite big, not the biggest but not small either. Muscles it has, yeah but just you won't see it. Its strength comes from within. The body is formed, the breath inserted. Take in life and he began to walk. All this is maintained by that little red guy on the block, all day long on the clock, he's quite the worker ain't he? If we could give a day off to an organ, I'd choose the heart. Giving his all everytime, in stress and rest, fun and work he's there for you. Doing that though, I'd probably drop dead on the spot. Little red guy, not so little. I think he probably wanna be a drummer. The LUB DUB sounds, like he beating a tune. Quite nice too, should win an award or two. Saving lives and giving a beautiful tone. A little extra if I might add, it so soothing to hear it's best. Sign of life, a sign you breathe. It's even better when you hear that sound from your partner, whose beats for you.

The Fragile Thread-Part One The race we are in, the game we are playing. Yeah it is life but have you seen how fragile it is? From the moment the deed was done, you had to beat other sperm cells just to get a shot at life is it not? Over a billion if I must say, at the moment you were the flash. It is the norm to be born, you grow old and die. Along the way you probably got a job or something fufiling to engage in, a wife with a kid or two in the picture. Sometimes none. In the end, when you die, you are ideally supposed to have no regrets as you have given life your all. Not everytime it does. Normal life expectancy is 90 years, that was about two centuries ago. Today you are considered lucky if you age past 70. Even at that, many die even in their pre-teens. How sad. So many factors are involved, infact it seems the advancement of technology has given death more teeth to bare on humanity. Violence has gone through the roof, drug and substance abuse food poisoning, suicide is much worse and all that. Is it just me or are drivers even more reckless today. FYI I have had five near-death experiences on the road, two I escaped barely with injuries. The fact that someone is there today and tomorrow is gone has not been new to me. It is painful but I got over it I guess but I felt their absence. My secondary school principal whose daughter I was friends with since primary school, basically she was a family friend. I was sad when I heard the news, even sadder when I lost contact with her, till today I haven't seen her since.

Love Or Madness Farewell To The World "I'm not sure how long I have been in here, probably months or could it be less. Nevertheless, it feels like an eternity, like I have been sucked into a black hole, I feel nothing in this place. It does not feel like a prison, it is worse, I am in an abyss. I wish there was something I could feel, happiness or anger, being calm or anxious but there is absolutely nothing. Does time flow at all? I do not know, remember I do not know how I have been here, sounds frustrating but I can't feel that too." He hurriedly puts the note under his pillow before pretending to sleep, good thing his ears were attentive to the door. While closing his eyes with his right hand as a visor, he could sense the presence of two, no three people. The deep voice belongs to the doctor, too bad he can't understand his words as usual. Probably followed by the nurse, he decides to drop the facade, he needs to know if it will be the needle. He can't help but sigh in disappointment, he hates pills. "Good morning Sam", the only thing meaningful in his life right now, if only he knew why she was this good to him. Her smile warms his heart so much that he wonders why a good soul like her should be here for him. She does this twice every day not sure how though, but why? He can not seem to know and what did she mean by calling me her husband. "His condition is still the same, I will have to switch the meds but I cannot guarantee his recovery, I am sorry." Rose expected this but she couldn't just give up, a good man like him didn't deserve this. The tears began to flow, she has held it for so long trying to be strong for her love and now the doctor is telling her there is no hope. "what to do I wonder?" She couldn't help but whisper. "There is still hope anyways, his behaviour is definitely better than the previous year, he is well behaved just that he is emotionless for the time being. I wish he did not keep to himself so much considering his bipolar condition. The betrayal at his workplace may have been the last straw, but according to the diary you stumbled on, he has been carrying a lot of baggage. I wished you had seen the signs but then don't blame yourself, he was probably very good at keeping secrets. One should not shoulder things like that especially for someone with a mental disorder, his insanity could have been avoided." Taking his eyes off the documents before him, he looks at her " In all honesty, I am impressed you have stuck with him this long, do not worry so much. In our profession, the saying 'Time is the healer of wounds', holds true in most of our mental cases, who knows you might be lucky. "You may go" this he said before facing his desk again. "Thank you doctor", the closed door announced her departure. I may not understand anything that is said to me, but I do know I should end this, at first it was for me, the endless torture too unbearable. Then everything changed when I saw her crying. Not today, I don't know when but for the first time I felt something, I was sad too. She read the text she got, seem like she was having money issues, raising two kids on her own just got harder. I don't know how but it somehow triggered a memory but I couldn't tell her so I went to sleep, pretended rather. It's too late to go back now, the white bedsheets were turning red and I becoming weak with every passing second. The bulb was my ticket to the afterlife but I would like... The door is opened forcefully and she's one of them, I smile getting to see her for the last time. "Good morning Rose" it was tough to say that, barely a whisper, hope she heard because I could say no more. It was painful to see this, she stood by him all this time and seeing the snaily progress, there was still hope and he just gave up. I would love to beat him up for being this mad but then wasn't he mad? Almost chuckled but the sombre mood put me in check, however, she sees something in his right hand, a letter. She reads through with constant sobs, her expression became sadder before she gave it to me. I glanced through everything and I really felt for him but at the bottom, I saw 'PTO', I gave it back and almost imediately she became lighter, still sad but happy. It wasn't clear but I heard her say I love you too, being curious I slid to her side and I saw a confession of having an insurance claim of a whopping sum, his lawyer to call and an 'I love you. Take care Rose and keep smiling.' I told her to go home while I handled her husband's corpse to send to the morgue. Done with the entire process, I could now sit in my office and digest the whole situation while staring out my window. "This is madness!" That was all I could say but I couldn't help but admit that love was at play.

Without My Eyes Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but what if I couldn't see? I tried closing my eyes, shutting out the sights. Oh dear I bless the Lord for I can see. Outside is full of wonders, check the sky both at day and night. They both lovely to look at. The best sight is at dark, the stars just nice to see. Check out the colours of things, red to green, and green to infinity. Different shades, different names but all wonderful. Imagine the eye, all these unable to see.

Have we been introduced? Good day to everyone on the platform, I don't think I have ever introduced myself. My real name is Osmond-Nath Robinson and I love to write. I will be dropping in various articles on love, relationship and love. In addition I will be writing short original poems ; my favourite thing to create. I hope you look forward to them, every week.

@Robbie9

Relationships Now I'm not referring to one night stands or flings but a long lasting relationship, please tell me they still exist? Well, duh! For this one, I will use myself as the case study. FYI, I didn't see myself getting into one of these anytime soon, probably when I was ready to settle down. Oh well! How it started? Well kinda slipped into it without realising it at first but that's not important, here is the real catch. I have seen this girl a lot, been with her a couple of times, talked, shared a laugh or two, ideas and the likes but I never gave her any thought. Fast forward , we are a couple now, all of a sudden, she seems more beautiful than usual , most of her actions I find them cute and adorable. Dear me! if I could, I will like to spend every second of my time with her but yeah not possible. I have read a lot of books, watched different videos, heard different experiences on the matter, sometimes I'd scoff at how far-fetched it sounded. Now that I see myself experiencing similar, I can't help but laugh. Let's see, "*I think about her all the time*" Well not every passing second but yeah, not a day goes by without me giving her my headspace. So far I am enjoying everything. So not trying to be pessimistic, but I can't help but fear the unknown. I've seen the sweet side of the romance happen, what about the not so-sweet side? In any case, worrying about the challenges is not fun to do , so why bother? Enjoy the ride, any bump I come across, just drive past. As long as the tyres stay intact , everything is fine. Can I foretell the end, no, no, no! I know I would be bumped out if we reach an end, but knowing when takes the fun out of it. What determines this though, is the purpose of the relationship , the more true and pure it is, the more solid and defining it is. Heck you may end up together forever, if that is what you want.

@Robbie9

Stories I mean who doesn't like one, moonlight tales, stories on English texts, stories from friends, teachers, stories from the preacher , strangers and even the bible; more stories there too. I do not know about you but I am a sucker for stories, if you got a chance to meet me, you will see that I am not much of a talker, sometimes shy or out of my depth on the subject but I prefer listening to what the guys or girls gotta say. They may not be telling stories, could be a real happening but I take them as stories. If anyone were to ask me on my perspective of life; I see life as a book with written chapters, we just don't see what they are, until you make a choice. Your choice determines which page you will read. Every page is out there but you can't see them all. Let's say you are thirsty, you have the choice of taking soda, milk or water. You can go for water, nothing special happens, milk could leave you with a bloated tummy and the soda leaves you even more thirsty. So you see, you only get to see what happens when you take one drink, you can't drink them all. So what am I saying about stories, I love stories, I can write them but I love to listen or read them. Funny enough I can't seem to get enough of it. I get one, and I'm looking for more, one of the reasons immortality would be nice for me but at this point, staying alive is the best I can do. Have to see my story to the end. Hope that would be your wish too.

@Robbie9

SHE IS Truth be told, facts be made, there was no chance of finding a her. Don't ask why, it was that blunt. Everyone saw it, a few hoped but nah. Did I try? Only when I could. Third time is the charm, three times I died. One sided attractions and crushes that was my fate, I'd accept till then. She just came in, broke my bubble and took me in her embrace. Feel so warm. Mind you I was never unhappy, defeated? Nah but now it's better. She is special to me, she is a flower to cherish, she is everything sweet. Peace of mind , that too.

@Robbie9

Inside Of Me Windows of the soul, look through my eyes if you dare. What you find you may not like, everything was hidden in plain sight. If I may, I do not see myself as bad, but truth be told all the baddies live inside of me. They once had the key, but now they're trapped. Blessed be my soul for I try my best to be good. Several slates I try to wipe clean, anew I begin. The light may be a bit bright, but I fear for the shadows inside.
