Would you take the "effort" to pick up a 1 cent coin that is laying on the ground? I found this one earlier this week near the parking spot on my way to the office. You can't buy anything with that. The monetary value of it seems non existant. Most people wouldn't even consider picking it up. At school I once even got made fun of because I did. But if you look at it from an investment perspective this 0.01€ can turn into inflation adjusted 0.16€ for your retirement. If you are a frugal investor you realize that every additional cent counts. It adds up. Here in Germany there is a saying that goes: "Wer den Pfennig nicht ehrt ist des Talers nicht wert."
