2021 is a crazy year for anime. On the start of the year, they surprised us with their crazy sequels and new animes like; Attack on Titan Final Season, Dr. Stone, Re:Zero, Wonder Egg Priority, Mushoku Tensei and Many More. And of course the controversial animes that made an uproar towards the community. The over the edge genre of Redo of Healer, the underwhelming animations of Ex-Arm and the outrageously bad sequel of The Promised Neverland. And all of this craziness didn't stop and it actually extended to the next season. You can read all of my Top Picks for Spring 2021 and all I can say is it's as crazy as the Winter 2021 anime.
All of this just happened within the first half of the year. So what's more can we expect on the remaining half? And to break on to this mix emotions of anxiety and excitement, how about the anime movies for this year? We've been praising all anime series that the already released anime movies and soon to be released ones are already being left behind. So to refresh and stuff new names on our memories, here are the 10 Anime Movies of 2021 You Need to Add on Your Watchlist.
Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time

Evangelion is one of the classic Mecha anime that captures all of our hearts with their story. And on the last March 8, 2021 after so many delays and reschedules because of Covid-19 pandemic it has been finally released on theaters and guess what, it has been successfull and even reached the box office. I didn't get to watched this film but given it's a film of Evangelion you can already expect the quality of this film. It is all about the last stand against total destruction and how can Shinji Ikari and company restore the world with the power of Evangelions.

Gintama: The Final
Genre: Action Sci-Fi Comedy Historical Parody Drama Samurai Shounen
This movie of Gintama actually blew the box office last January 2021. And just like any films and series of Gintama, this movie is also a bomb. It is supposedly the sequel and final conclusion of Gintama: Silver Soul Arc. And it is also the final fight of Utsuro (main villain) against his former students (Gintoki, Takasugi and Katsura). Some unanswered questions will be answered in this film including the identity of Sakata Gintoki why his Hair color is silver. And more fun things will happen. So you can't afford to let this final movie of Gintama passed.

Fate/Grand Order: Shinsei Entaku Ryouiki Camelot 2 - Paladin; Agateram

It is the sequel of the Fate/Grand Order: Shinsei Entaku Ryouiki Camelot 1 - Wandering; Agateram which has been released last December 2020. To be honest I'm kind of disappointed on the last movie. Unlike the sequel series, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia it lacks in the story and where is the epic fighting scenes trademark of Fate series? For some people it may not be the most exciting Fate/Grand series but if you are a true Fate fan you definitely gonna add it to your watchlist no matter what.

Fate/Grand Order: Shuukyoku Tokuiten - Kani Jikan Shinden Solomon
Genre: Action Supernatural Fantasy Magic
Yes you've seen it right. There will be 2 Fate Grand Order movies this year and it is just between more than 1 month span. Fate Series will never be called as Unlimited Budget works for nothing. And this movie will be the final singularity of this series. No official plot given but based on the trailer some new and returning servants can be seen in this movie such as Jeanne d'Arc or Ruler from Fate Apocrypha. It will be the story after Babylonia singularity and they will face the final singularity to complete their mission. It may be the final singularity but I doubt that it will be the final movie of Fate/Grand series. In the game there are total of 7 singularity and currently there are only 3 singularity shown in anime. So do we expect more soon? Who knows, I am excited and expecting more on this film than the last one.

Sidonia no Kishi: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi

Sidonia no Kishi is a series suited on my taste. I really love stories about Sci-Fi and Outer Space adventure. I'm a little bit concerned about the CGI quality though. But still I will definitely need to watch it soon. This movie will be the final battle of humanity against Gauna, a lifeforms come from outer space to destroy earth. The remaining survivors escaped on outer space and managed to survive for few millennia. They discovered a hybrid mecha that can fight back this lifeform and thanks to this, we can witness on this film the final hope of humanity to fight and take back the planet they once owned. I really have a high expectation for this movie.

Boku no Hero Academia the Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission

On August 2021, let's witness altogether the most anticipated Anime Movie of 2021. My Hero Academia is the only Naruto rip off anime I accept. And this 3rd movie will gonne be epic. The first 2 movie are already awesome so I'm really expecting that this one will be much more better. The trailers are already lit so I'm starting to build my expectations. No official synopsis provided but according to its trailer, it all takes place to some other countries outside Japan and the big 3 (Midoriya, Bakugo, Shoto) of this series will be sent on a mission to solve an unknown problem. What kind of epicness will they show this time. I'm really anxious to know. But let's hold our emotions and wait for few more weeks.

Kakushigoto Movie

This is basically a movie version of Kakushigoto TV series but there are scenes to be added that we didn't saw in the series. So for those who didn't watched the series yet, it will be a big opportunity to wait this film so that you don't have to rewatch the entire 12 episode series. This story is very wholesome actually. A story of a single father who is trying to hide his occupation as a popular manga writer. A funny yet wholesome story of Daughter-Father relationship as the daughter slowly uncover the secrets of her father. I can't wait to rewatch this wonderful story as a form of movie.

Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime

Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime or Belle is an anime that I'm most excited about. It is created by the same author of Summer Wars, Wolf Children and The Boy and the Beast which is super underrated by the way. It would be upsetting if Belle would not get what it deserve. I'm sure it will be a good film. You would not worry about the quality because the art style is still similar to Summer Wars as well as the story. It is all about a girl who started to lose interest in life as her mother passed away and their relationship of her father gradually becoming distant. Her only reliever of this problems is singing (which she started to lose interest in real world too). And that's where she discovered the virtual world called "U". Taking the persona of Belle in the online world and her singing, she will showcase her talent to the world without revealing her own identity. As well as uncovering the mystery of black dragon that mysteriously appeared one day.

Misaki no Mayoiga

Any drama fans will gonna love this film. The animation studio that will animate this future masterpiece is DAVID Production. For those who didn't know, this studio is one of the iconic studio because it is the studio behind Jojo Bizarre Adventures and Fire Force. So the transition of heavy action to heartbreaking drama is really unexpected. And given of its unique art style, I bet it will be the next Silent Voice. It is a story of a teen girl named Moeka who lost her parents and Yurie who's trying to escape her abusive husband. They got off to a train station one day and even though they didn't know each other, the destiny sure will find a way. They've been hit with an earthquake and tsunami. Their lives are still saved and that's where they met an old women named Kiwa Yamana. Together the 3 start a new life in an old house near at the sea.

Sword Art Online: Progressive Movie - Hoshi Naki Yoru no Aria

Okay Sword Art Online will drop a bomb this 2021. There are currently two officially announced part of this movie series and the sequel will be released next year. Although it is unknown if it will be a Trilogy but let's just hope so cause this story will bring us back to the very start. It is basically a story of SAO Season 1 where the players are stuck in the game called Sword Art Online and if they die in the game, they will die in real life too. But the difference this time is the perspective of the story will be set to Asuna. It will be shown in this movie what happened to Asuna before she met Kirito and also some Aincrad floor raid that are not shown in anime will be added in this film. I love the Aincrad arc of SAO so I'm sure I'll gonna love this film.

With these amazing movies, I'm really sure that 2021 will be a year not just for Awesome Sequels and New Anime but also a year of wonderful and epic movies.
Attack On Titans and Death Note are my most favorite anime.
