ESPAÑOL (For English, please read below): QUÉ ES EL PHOTOBASHING? It is a technique that consists of joining 3D elements or real images (photographs), to work on the illustrations either by creating a new image or by blending it. This technique was initially used by video game creators and developers, who needed to generate scenario and environment concepts quickly. Like any technique, it has its followers and its detractors. Some of them thinks that using it is cheating. Professional illustrators using this technique must have a high level of understanding of composition, lighting, and forms in order to create a compelling composition. This was an exercise that I did with my character Gersiel and an image that I found on Pexels. I really liked the lighting and the angle of the photo. To make it not look like two different realities (3D and 2D), I applied a filter in Clip Studio Paint that makes the image look like it was made with watercolors, leaving the outline stroke and added some lighting with the airbrush. It was an interesting practice. I had already tried it before in another composition, although simpler. Did you know this technique or have you used it before?
