Upvotes and downvotes
We're starting one more experiment: upvotes and downvotes.
Previously it was only possible to upvote with Bitcoin Cash (so, tip the author). However, there are a few problems with that - first, you need to have some money to encourage the author. Second, there is no way to discourage bad/spammy articles. So, many good articles were left on the sidelines (in the "new" section), because even people who noticed something didn't have the means to upvote the article with money. Besides, there was one more thing that was missing - a possibility to customize the homepage for you, because we didn't know what you like and what you don't like. Now you have a chance to show it and we have the chance to use it (though currently we don't personalize the homepage). The rules for the "hot" section (aka the main page) have also changed today - it's also now possible to get there by having "+2" in your upvote score, instead of having positive tip amount.

That's a great new feature I can't agree with you more on this a lot of writers, writings were lost in crowded space of "new" now they have the fair chance to be appreciated. Thankyou
Correct me if I am wrong downvote is "-2" and tip is "+2 "?
No, upvote adds 1, downvote decreases the score by 1, tips give zero.

Is there any anti downvote bot protection in place? What's to keep some large corporation from using a ton of fake accounts to bot downvote posts? Or for that matter upvote them?
There will be. Right now it's not a problem - there is no need for that amount of action, but when it becomes a problem we'll create some protection mechanism.

I secretly hoped for a second voting mechanism but thought that'd be a certain no from read.cash. I'm happy they came up with it anyway.
Well, frankly we also thought we would never do that :) but we're always open for new experiments.

I agree. I also think it would be cool to have a downvote mechanism where you can pay, but instead of going to the author (obvi) it goes to the newly implemented read.cash fund
