Simple way to block users in comments As we are developing things that will help us fight the spam wave, we're rolling out a simple helper that might help you make read.cash personally a bit more cozy. Say you wrote an article and somebody is spamming it with comments. Previously you could block that user, but that wasn't very convenient - you needed to go to that user's profile and click "Block user". Now, it's much simpler (for users that are registered):
The comments by the blocked user *under your articles* disappear for everyone, both registered and non-registered users (that's how blocking always worked). Have fun!

Haha thanks for this feature 😊
that seems a bit abusable :/ why make it disappear for everyone?
This is actually how it works (it has been for months). The reason is simple. The main use case is actually abuse/bullying. You wrote an article, you must have control over what appears next to it. Also, let's say MrB is blocked, there's a comment by MrB, who is blocked - people are replying to his comment, but he has no idea about that, he can't see replied, he can't reply to replies.
This is a good function. Although the abuse will never disappear, really. But hey, that explains my ghost comments!
> but he has no idea about that, he can't see replied, he can't reply to replies. discord solves it perfectly: 15 blocked messages (show messages) > You wrote an article, you must have control over what appears next to it. this system is unfortunately heavily abused on twitter, FB, etc to censor bigblockers for example > MrB, who is blocked - people are replying to his comment, but he has no idea about that why wouldnt he see the replies? it seems we have some misunderstanding
So, let's say you have a blog, let's say I'm a highly-functioning sociopath with tons of time at hand. I come to your blog daily and leave messages mocking you, insulting your ideas, slowly playing with your brain until you're insane. Would you be happy to see that I left "15 more nasty messages" for you? Are you obliged to give me the right to talk on your site?
if "my site" is a platform .. the answer is not so clear
for instance this guy is spreading FUD. I was able to reply https://read.cash/@noise/dont-roll-your-own-consensus-algorithm-and-the-dangers-with-pre-consensus-for-bitcoin-cash-70b3e83f#comment-d6b1de3b, but i fear he blocks me. If he is someone that gained popularity, he can just start censoring opposition - same as what eg andreas antonopoulos is doing. Maybe the solution is to not allow blocking others if you have more than some number of followers?
> discord solves it perfectly: 15 blocked messages (show messages) @read.cash, absolutely love this feature, but i agree with @tula_s, i think in the name of transparency, it should be an option to still show "blocked" messages
This development is awesome! Some users comments are not only spamming but also abusive, like someone writing under the influence of narcotic drugs. Kudos to read.cash!
that explains alot. i have noticed that some comments on my articles disappeared and i wasn't sure why
thanks for the work, it is one more feature that improves and I love it in read.cash :)
I think this is a other good step for the team. Thank you for all this update.
Que bueno que compartas lo que sabes,así lo colocamos en practica,ya que a veces comentan y lo que expresa no tiene nada que ver con la publicación,el cual dañan la misma.
Another excellent consideration and new feature for Read Cash. We appreciate the constant improvements! We call this feature 'InstaBlock' ;)
Yes its true, many people around the world infect many people whom u never know and they comment on my post which is sometime makes me so angry 😡 and I cannot that comment and I have to block them.
Will the blocked spammers also get less (or no) Satoshis for their points? You have now introduced the new personalized point conversion.
Read.cash got a lot worse. Remove the fund, remove the boosted, remove the upvoting and change the hompage back to the tiles please, thanks
