500 users 🎉 and a few small changes
Today we've crossed the line of 500 users registered on read.cash. It's not a big, but it's definitely a nice number. 🎉 Of course, there are relatively unknown people on Twitter that have more followers, but the number growing, which is nice, and all these people get to experience the magic of Bitcoin Cash as cash, which is even nicer!

A few updates that we've rolled out today. Language selection You'll have to choose the language for the article now. Previously, we've had it set by default to English, but many people publishing in foreign languages didn't even notice the selector, so we've had to set a bunch of articles to the proper language. Now, you'll have to explicitly set the language. Don't worry, it takes about a second. Lead images Many people were confused by the lead image and expected it to appear in the article somehow. We are at fault here, we didn't have time previously to write the code that would do that. These images were only used for the thumbnails. As of today, you can finally set the lead image either as a heading background or as a first image in the article or explicitly use it for the thumbnail only.
...or just use it as a thumbnail (it won't show up in the article). Profile Links Our "Written by" block was getting a bit crowded, so we've replaced text links with icons and the "edit" link with a pencil icon. It was confusing, because there were two "Edit" links - one for the profile links, another one for the article itself.
bchd migration Yesterday we've started a migration to bhcd, because some people occasionally experienced problems with rest.bitcoin.com (including all of the Tor Browser users). https://read.cash/@Read.Cash/were-migrating-away-from-restbitcoincom-2219a203 Almost all of the client-side (in browser) code of read.cash has been migrated to bchd.fountainhead.cash. https://bchd.fountainhead.cash In the meantime, our bchd node finishes syncing up - we'll see if it's better to keep Fountainhead or switch it to our node. Anyway, this hopefully fixings these CORS problems that some of the users were having. (See the previous article for explanations) Draft links Occasionally, it's needed to get an opinion of somebody about your article before you publish it. To check for any errors, for example, or to proofread it. Now, it's possible. Just click the "Preview article" link and you'll get a link you can share.
Back to editor There was also a minor nuisance: occasionally, if you edited an article, then opened a link, then clicked "Back" - the editor would load the article from Chrome's cache, which would be the previous version of the article, not the latest. That was pretty bad, we're now forcing Chrome not to do that anymore. That's it. Have fun!

Is the "show the affiliate link" only available right at the bottom now, or am I overlooking something? Good job on the site btw, I suspect you'll hit 1000 users very soon :-)

Gratz! and Thanks for the changes! I would like the option to make my image be both the thumbnail and top of the article. I also have not figured out how to add an image into an article text. Also, is there a search function? How can people find content or writers?

If I click on my name I think I get the same page with the article with no thumbnail. It may be something to do with it being me looking at my own page or maybe something to do with there only being one article?
I see the same thumbnail-less list of articles when I click on your name as well.
Are you using the "list" layout? There's a switcher between list and tiles. List layout doesn't have thumbnails by design.
That solved it. I do not think I changed that setting. Was getting the thumbnails (before the update?). But, All good now, Thanks!
I can tell you right now that aesthetics count for A LOT. The main reason I signed up was because I found your layout appealing. I checked out the competition and I don't find myself wanting to deal with honest.cash (too spartan) and publish0x.com (too garish) at all. More power to you guys and hope you make the right layout decisions going forward so your site becomes even more beautiful and easy on the eyes. Right now, there is a bit of a visual glitch in the "Encourage the author to write more" section under Firefox Quantum. And another thing is that I couldn't get the Badger Wallet link to work in iOS Safari (eg already installed Badger Wallet but the link is still asking me to do it)
Thanks! Yeah, we noticed that glitch on Tor Browser yesterday too. We'll fix it. Badger: yes, only the desktop Badger Wallet had the CashID function as far as we know.
The visual glitch should be fixed now.

Icon for profile links is great! This is something I wanted to prosose but you guys are me too fast off :D The other day I saw that a crypto personality had a steemit logo on youtube as a profile link, Read.cash should probably also think about getting an easily recognizable logo (notting urgent but pretty important!) Little things that could be improved: When I open multiple tabs on firefox when logged in on read.cash the second tab prompts the message again to put my seed in again or make a new wallet. (no idea if this might be due to prvacy plugins or settings?) Second thing is less annoying but still XD : i'm reading an article on the site that I'm linked to and the red notification bell is staring me in the face, so I click away from the article to see what's up and then it turns out it is a notification for the article that I was already reading!

I think it has to do with private browser by default?
Maybe.. The default setup of Firefox works fine. We can't do anything about the "private" mode, because that's what it is - it's a container that you can't break out of (otherwise the likes of Facebook would exploit it)
