Oh! The Nigerian Youth, future leaders of tomorrow.

Greetings once again to you my awesome friends and bloggers like me, it gives my heart so much joy to know that you are doing your best to educate your readers in this platform. Please keep the flag of knowledge impactment flying.

Yes it is always said In my country Nigeria that the youths are the future leaders of tomorrow and when ever I hear or see such words mentioned or said on the television stations and radio stations I begin to wonder in thought the rational behind it. Before I continue with this story, I will appreciate it if you will relax and join me in this jolly ride of mine where I will be sharing with you some of the confusions and lies the government of Nigeria and people in authority have been feeding the youths with ever since I was born up until now. ***Disclaimer:*** **this article is not to insult the sovereignty of Nigerian state nor the people at the elected positions running the affairs of Nigeria, rather it's purpose is to educate us and make us to really understand the extent of damage and suffering the youths of our country Nigeria are passing through in recent time and also, this is my personal view and opinion.** Let's go down to the business of the day. Before I continue, I will like to inform you that I am a Nigerian by birth and I live in Nigeria for more than 35yrs since I was born till this moment. It's very pertinent to say that the government of the day have really not been truthful to themselves and to the people they are governing, most especially to the common man on the street and to the youths of our time. When you turn on your radio each day, you hear this slogan that always say "***The youth are future leaders of tomorrow"*** and when such statement is made by the political elites, I total get confused and lost. Ever since I was born, started growing up till this moment I have become an adult and contributing my own quoter to Nigeria as a citizen, I am yet to see a youth become a president of my country nor a governor of a state in my country. Sadly to say that the people that have been on the seat of power in Nigeria before I was born are still the same set of people that are there even now that I am an adult, and it pain so much to still hear them say that ***the youths are future leaders of tomorrow.*** In Nigerian politics, right from the inception of democracy, they have refused to make an equal play ground for the youths to participate and strive in full capacity to contest In the presidential and gurbernitorial elections in the major through the major political parties in the country, just last election that was held, you could see some youths who managed to come out with the minority political parties's ticket were crushed to the ground because they didn't matter to the Nigerian government. When a country is managed under a system that does not require the major contributions from the youths even in their electoral mandates, that country will be at the verge of not standing strong with other countries of the world in terms of wealth, development, new ideas, etc. Such country will be moving backwards when others are moving ahead with time. The one that pained me the most was, the recent Twitter ban in Nigeria. When other countries were embracing new trend of ideas and innovations and social media trends, my country was busy through the control of all these old men that occupy important positions in the present administration, who supposed to have retired and release power and authority to the hands of the youth to paddle the boat of change to a better place to make a nasty decision and ban twitter because an individual happens to feel bad because of the way twitter handled his case. Because of that, a lot of men, women, private and public firms and organisations and cooperations that make use of Twitter handle to do their businesses lost their customers to that effect.

Most of these so called elites have really lost the track of recent happenings of the time, they make policies that will not favour the common man on the street not to talk of the youths, imagine what was trending on the news the other day that Nigeria government banned the news agencies from broadcasting nor reporting bandit killings, insurgence attack by Boko haram, etc on their radio and television stations, reason that when their activities are reported to the public, it makes them popular and very stronger by the day, can you imagine the type of men we have in the country as legislators and representatives? Now the youths that were supposed to be the leaders of tomorrow are really running out of the country to better their lives in other countries, the policies these men at the seats of authority In Nigeria are bringing out to the populace are not favourable to the youths rather to themselves. The few youths in the country are either been intimidated by the security operatives or they are been frustrated by the same policies from these men that have been ruling the country even before I was born. With the small level of exposure these men who are still governing us have gathered, it will be very difficult to really meet up with other fast developing countries and even the already developed countries of the world. Some months ago, Nigerian government also banned crypto currency business in Nigeria when other countries are busy embracing crypto currency businesses and transactions. And one keeps wondering the rational behind all of these act and setback from our government. You said that the youths are future leaders of tomorrow yet you close some of the legitimate online avenues and things that will always provide food and cash to the youths. These men that have hijacked the government of the day, they have been recycling themselves in the political seats of the country without having any thought of making available chance for the youth to strive. During election they will use the youths to steal ballot boxes, the youths are used to perpetuate electoral crimes and at the end, it is the youth that will pay the price and suffer.

I ask again, when will the youths of my country be the leaders of tomorrow? I believe it will be a good step to follow if the government of the day will start implementing policies that will project the youths in the right direction for a better and true governance. I think it will be better if the old men will leave the centre stage and allow the intelligent and capable youths to really come out this time and run the affairs of this country so we can try new ideas and provide innovative and positive thinking that will enable this country progress. If we continue to allow these ill treatment to come from these old men with old ideology who have hijacked the system of governance in this country to their benefits, I tell you the youths of Nigeria will continue to live a life of mirage in their own land.
