Small changes lead to better and permanent results
Mike has his dreams of climbing mountains. He heard about the tallest mountain in the world and decided to accomplish it. He wanted to climb a mountain that is 10,000 km high. All he had to do was to make a small step. After all the efforts applied for 1 day, he realized that “I had not reached even 1 percent above after all the efforts. I can not give more than this.” What the hell!! it is going on. I put so many steps and still I am just at the bottom. He quits and came back to the starting point And left for home.
He was very very keen on mountain climbing, rather than quit he thought of another way out he decide to cover the distance by air. He calculated all the expenses and even after all the effort of saving money. Each week he would calculate his savings and say alas! 1 they are still so less How will I make it come true and most of the time he can keep it for one month and then he spent on clothes, sports or etc. He could not make it to travel till his old age. It is not like he did not try, but after all the efforts what he gets was so small he left it as it is or spent it somewhere.
What Mike taught me!!!
If I look at the intention of Mike, it was all clear what he wants but still, he was unable to achieve it. **JUST BECAUSE SMALL STEPS DOES NOT SHOW CHANGES IT can not be said that they do not bring change, they are the milestone that brings a change in one’s life.** It should be understood and can be figured out that if Mike would have saved his money although it appears so meager in the start slowly and slowly it would turn out to be a large sum. But to count it up it would have taken some time.
Let us understand this better through the book Of Atomic habits by James Clear.
James Clear has called these small steps (from where they can not be broken smaller) as “Atomic” and repetitive action which turn out to have an effect on your behavior as “Habit”.
The significance of “Atomic” and “Habits”
Most of the time our behavioral habits are developed without our consciousness; means we keep on repeating an action like most people around the globe have a habit of Bed Coffee. And if somehow they could not get it, they will be annoyed throughout the day.
Let us take another example like a sudden unexpected sound, In general with these sounds, affect men differently they will be angry at that sound, whereas a woman will get panic. It is due to the default reaction on males and females on these triggers. So now, even if you know that you are going to react like this in these situations, you could not get rid of your response so easily. These actions are your habit and by default get activated.
Author James clear states, that if you want to improve in a task then notice out all the actions and different perspectives in it, then break them into as many small pieces as you can. Now making just one percent improvement in each small piece of work will give you 37 times better output than in a year.
Improving yourself for 1 % per day will lead you to 37times better. (How and does it work)
In 2003, the British cycling Organization appointed Dave Brailsford as a new director, then it was just 1 gold medal in the bag of the British cycling team, and guess what just after 5 years in Beijing Olympic 2008, the same unit under the leadership of Sir Brailsford captured 60% of the available Gold medals. They went further to set nine Olympic records and seven world records in the next Olympic at London in 2013.
How did this miracle happen? Something which was unachieved in the past 100 years, Dave made it possible in 10 years. How?
Mr. Brailsford in an interview shared his philosophy of the "aggregation of marginal gains” - a philosophy or practice that changed the shape and future of British cycling. the philosophy was pretty similar to search a tiny margin of improvement in everything we do.
Mr. Director made many tiny improvements like redesigning their cycling seat to make it more comfortable. They applied alcohol on tires to enhance the grip on the road. Riders were recommended to wear electrically heated overshots to maintain idle muscle temperature while riding. Now, what will these things do these things are not related to cycling results and if they are they do not carry as such result. But these small changes over a period of time enhanced the result by providing a better environment to the cyclist.
Brailsford made further small improvements in the areas overlooked or unexpected and improvement was so small that no one even dare to work on them. from massage gels to team trucks to Medical teams everywhere. and just a small improvement of 1%. As these and hundreds of other small improvements accumulated, the results came faster than anyone could have imagined.
This is an excellent example of how small changes lead to big results.
How does Progress really happen?
Well if you keep an Ice cube at a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius nothing will happen, which means you could notice it melt if you increase the temperature by 1 degree Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius, still, the change is difficult to notice, again, an increment by 1 degree i.e. 26 Degree Celsius, no change, 27 Degree Celsius 28 Degree Celsius 29 Degree Celsius 30 Degree Celsius 31 Degree Celsius….No change only vapors could be noticed.
But now just 1 degree more and see it becomes 32 Degree Celsius, now the magic happens. You could easily notice it melting. But it does not happen all of a sudden it was gradually increasing for a long time, the only difference was that it took some time to be noticeable.
It is the same with our efforts it takes time to show change and after a long time, only a change could occur. Most people quit when they are too close but just being frustrated as Mike above they quit and move away, it takes time to bring the change, and between change and you a deep valley of depression awaits

Hard work pays: God help those who work hard
Two friends Nakul and Sohan lived in a village. Nakula was very religious and believed in God a lot. Whereas Sohan was very hardworking. Once, **both of them together** bought one acre of land. They wanted to build their houses by profit from crops.
Sohan used to work very hard in the field but Nakul did not do any work but went to the temple and prayed to God for a good harvest. That's how time passed. After some time the crop of the field was ripe and ready.
Both of them sold the surplus in the market and made a good profit. After coming home, Sohan told Nakul that I will get more share of this money because I have worked hard in the field.
Hearing this, Nakul said no, I should get more share of the money because I prayed to God only then we got a good harvest. Nothing is possible without God. When both of them could not resolve this matter among themselves, both of them reached the head of the village for the distribution of money.
After listening to both of them, the chief gave each of them a sack of rice in which the pebbles were mixed. The chief said that by tomorrow morning, both of you have to separate rice and pebbles from it, then I will decide who should get more share of this money.
Both of them went to their house with the sack of rice. Sohan stayed awake all night separating the rice and the pebbles. But Nakul went to the temple with the sack of rice and prayed to God to separate the pebbles from the rice.
The next morning, Sohan took as much rice and pebbles as he could separate and went to the chief. The chief was pleased to see this. Nakul took the same sack of the Rice and went to the chief.
The chief said to Nakul that show how much rice you have cleaned. Nakul said that I have full faith in God that all the rice would have been cleaned. When the sack was opened, the rice and pebbles were the same.
The landlord told Nakul that even God helps when you work hard. The landlord gave most of the money to Sohan. After this Nakul also started working hard in the field like Sohan and this time his crop was better than before.
Summary...
*From this story, we get a lesson that we should never rely on God. We must work hard to get success.*
Four Candles
It was late evening. There was darkness all around. Only one room was illuminated. There were four candles burning.
Seeing themselves alone,candles started talking among themselves. The first candle said, "*I am peace. When I see this world, I feel very sad. There is rioting, looting and violence all around. So it is very difficult to live here. I can't stay here anymore.*" Saying this the candle was extinguished.
The second candle also began to speak its mind, “*I am a believer. I feel that lies, deceit, deception, dishonesty are destroying my existence. This place is no longer worthy of me. I'm going too*." Saying this, the second candle was also extinguished.
The third candle was also sad. She said, "*I am love. I can burn every moment for everyone. But now no one has time for me. Selfishness and hatred is taking my place. There was no love-feeling left in the minds of people even towards their loved ones. It is not my thing to bear this now. It would be fine for me to go*." Saying that the third candle was also extinguished.
The third light was out when a boy entered the room. He was very sad to see the candles being extinguished. The tears started flowing from his eyes. With a sad heart, he said, "***How can you go away from my life in the middle like this. You had to burn completely till the end. But you left my side. What shall I do now?***"
After listening to the child, the fourth candle said, "*****Don't panic, child. I am hope and I am with you. As long as I am burning, you can light other candles with my flame.*****"
Hearing the fourth candle, the child's consolation was bound. He rekindled peace, faith and love with hope.
**Lessons**
***"Time doesn't remains same in life. Sometimes there is light, sometimes it is dark. This is a story based on true incidents......
Indian kings are always fond of luxury and they always .... show off at a very high scale...they spent a lot on luxury and can never forget those who insulted them...
In 1920s, there used to be a king of Alwar named JAI SINGH PRABHAKAR...
he is a royal king and has too much wealth...at the same time he was down to earth .. he does not prefer much spot light and always try to stay away from limelight...
In 1920 he was spending his time in London as a common man..living in simple cloth like a normal lower-middle class men......
contrast to India, where he is always accompanied by royal carts, luxury vehicles and security.. royal body guards.... In London, he was living alone.. with just basic amenities and a very few servants...
He was fond of luxury cars... and one day while on morning walk.... in simple gestures and clothes.. he came across the showroom of Rolls Royce...
The moment he saw the new edition of Rolls Royce .. He decide to buy it immediately and without getting conscious of his get up he entered in the showroom immediately...
He gazed over the beautiful black giant .. with very much attention and attraction.. he asked the nearby standing salesman about the price....
The sales man with astonishment scanned Jai singh top to bottom and thought ..he looks likes a beggar.. how can he afford the so expensive and luxury Rolls Royce.. He is just here to waste my time...he not only ... pushed jai singh out of the showroom but insulted him too badly...
Observers around tell that ..in spite of so much insult and humiliation... jai singh stood silent and calm.....
Coming back to the hotel.... he was boiling in anger and have just one thought .... "How shall I teach him a lesson ??"
He got into royal get up and sent a message to showroom .... ***"King of alwar is visiting there showroom to buy Rolls Royce"***... The showroom started preparations to welcome the king... red carpet was laid and Maharaja jai singh was awaited ..
Maharaja as soon as entered the showroom... ***he immediately ordered 7 Rolls Royce ..MADE THEIR PAYMENT IN CASH.. with the travel expenses to his palace .. and told the manager he will only buy when the salesman (he did not mentioned who insulted him ... but yes,pointed towards him) will drop the car to his Royal palace..***
The showroom happily and willingly..even the sales man himself got agreed to deliver those 7 cars himself..
They were celebrating ..It was a huge order... they started celebration.... Like that day, it was a festival
This time he was not at all interested in the features and did not even ask the price..
(till here no body could even relate.. even the salesman that it was same person a few hours back, he insulted..)
**NOW THE GAME BEGINS..**
As soon as the car is delivered .. Maharaja ordered the municipal corporation to use THEM AS GARBAGE DUMP CARS...

Every day the sweepers collect all the garbage of the city and fill the Rolls Royce with it to take it to the dump yard....
The salesman almost fainted when found the Rolls Royce as a dust van..
the news spread like a forest fire... Each and every person across the world.. started laughing on the firm...
no body was even giving a try to buy rolls royce ..Rols royce reduced its price...even then the placed orders were getting cancelled and i must tell you ... Rolls royce was the biggest luxury car making making company at that time... and an ordinary middle class can not even thought of it in his dream...
***When rolls Royce after every efforts; became unable to control their losses... they wrote a letter to the King of Alwar "Jai singh Prabhakar" apologizing on their fault and also offered him 6 new rolls royce with lifetime free maintainence...***
they requested maharaj to stop using their cars as a dumping vehicle...
maharaj happily agreed to them as he achieved his target... and now it was nothing he want to achieve ......
