A couple years ago, when my parents, were still healthy and young, they assisted in taking care of our previous ailing landlords (for both mother and daughter). Whenever they are needed to assist, they were just one call away. Seeing them performed those assistance, is something to be proud of, even others were deemed it as an ex deal for our free rent in our landlords place, but I know how genuinely my parents offered their help. Yesterday, when we (together with my other siblings) came to the province where our old parents are living alone and to saw them after almost 3 years since my last visit, left me in awe. Seeing them loosing so much weight since the last time I saw them, and to saw my father with a catheter in his private part, gave me so much fear and sadness about the ordeal that both of them had to endured alone while we were not besides them, especially the part when my mother have to rushed my father to the nearest hospital at 3 in the morning, clueless about the transport and to nearest hospital nearby. Never thought that the same scenario when they were helping our previous landlord will befell on one of them. I pitied to saw them in skin and bones, and felt more pitied seeing my old father supported with a walker and seeing him with a hose attaching to his body. I now understand, the sense of fear and exhaustion of my old mother, when she begged and informed me that she needed help for physical assistance. If not for my uncle's demised, I wont be able to find our parents absolute condition, and that makes me embarrassed and guilty for hesitating to come early to them. And maybe, just maybe, this is God's way, to weigh things between loving them more near them as a flawed and with shortcomings prodigal son and loving the trading job away from them. Either way, I seek the wisdom on what's the Lord's really wants me to take.
