Home-based Organic Gardening🌱 As a requirement for our subject in NSTP-CWTS (National Service Training Program)-Civic Welfare Training Service) , I made use of my knowledge in agriculture and chose to plant vegetables, specifically PECHAY and LETTUCE for my project. I chose these two mainly for two reasons. First, they are cost-effective and are easy to manage. Second, we had to consider the time given to us to complete the project and the plants mentioned are known to have a fast growth rate. The project implementation began on November 10, 2021. Since I had to integrate the "trash to treasure" concept, I made use of plastic bottles for my germination pot. While waiting for the seeds to germinate, I prepared a much larger space in our backyard. With the help of my parents, we pulled out the weeds, tilled the land, and made 6 plant beds (3 each for both plant varieties). As it is supposed to be organic, I took feces of our pigs, dried them then, mixed it with the soil of each plant bed. After a week of germination period, we transplanted the seedlings in the prepared backyard garden. For the water system, I used a can and put holes in it then watered the plants every morning and afternoon. The third pic shows the latest pic I took before submitting my write-up and documentation on December 23, 2021. As you can see, some of the pechay were ready for harvest while the lettuce needed to grow more.
