One of the secrets to having money, and making money is as follows: 1) Earn as much as you possibly can, from multiple sources 2) Live frugally 3) Save and invest wisely 4) Avoid using credit except for leverage Living this way, and making this a habit will eventually lead you to a place where your money in the bank, and in your investments begin to outearn what you get in terms of paychecks and other sources. Your MONEY becomes your primary source of income, and if you choose to continue to work, it's not a paycheck anymore to deal with the day to day expenses. It's the icing on the cake that just lets you have more, and more, and more.

Easy to say, but difficult to do. I think we all try to maximize our income, but even skilled labor is subject to pressures from places like China. It’s hard not to get sucked into credit card funded consumer madness. After all, advertising uses psychological manipulation to trick us into buying crap. And with our economy being consumer based, it’s unpatriotic not to buy the latest shiny garbage.
