Whoah hold up! hold it! i don't know the proper phrase...but.... This statement from a colleague at work somehow is quite unsettling for a career woman/mother/ like me who thinks that equality matters a lot in a relationship. I mean .... say for example: On your first date, you agree that the guy shall pay but on the consecutive dates and so on...I believe on sharing expenses. 50-50! Anyhow sir James said, "well, it's a threat to a man's ego!" But the way I see things, it's all about FAIRNESS and EQUALITY. Why on earth I would succumb to the thought of having a guy spend for me when I can do it myself? I mean okay at times you let him indulge but isn't INDEPENDENCE a good thing? Likewise I believe on division of labour when it comes to household chores and what I mean is that..."if my hubby washed the dishes then by all means I' will dry them up!" There's no such thing as I should be washing dishes because I'm the wife and my husband simply has to sit on the couch watching tv because washing is a woman's thing? what the heck! Also when it comes to taking care of our 26 months old baby, we do shifting or taking turns.. meaning... "When I feed Sage, my hubby will give him shower.! and then putting him to bed together.. Anyhow.. To what extent you can say that becoming responsible to pay bills is a threat? and women who are earning higher than men are threat? to make the statement more drastic to me, he said, "the security of a woman lies in a man?" and I said...NO WAY!..... enlighten me on this topic guys/girls/men/women/ no baby talk here...SPAMMERS will be banned/reported/ignored etc etc however you may call it. I don't want a women to be a career woman, I want her to be a mother and raise my children. men are not attracted to ambitious women who dont want children. Thats why many men from my country go for women from more traditional cultures.
oh that's sad...But we also take care of our kids...I mean is it just a culture thing or general perspective? But for women, who have careers at the same time taking care of their kids, is empowering to be able to share in the household. Why can't men appreciate that? Thanks for your thoughts. I thought I'm done with this topic but it's mind blowing somehow.
