Daily wildlife photography: the spoonbill, Platalea leucorodia. If you see this bird close enough, the reason to the name becomes crystal clear: their bill has the shape of a big spoon! They are normally seen in colonies, most of the time with their bills in the water, searching for food: crustaceans, molluscs and small fishes. With their big size, white colour, and that beautifull bill, they're unmistakable! Photos taken in Tavira, Portugal.
