My wildlife photography: the black headed gull, Chroicocephalus ridibundus. Despite its name, only in the summer do the adults develop the plummage with the dark head; in the winter, only a dark spot behind the eyes is seen. They are a very common species, and even in the winter, the colour pattern makes them easy to identify. Photos taken in Como, Italy.
