Daily wildlife photography: the eurasian hoopoe, Upupa epops. I was so happy to see this one! It had been ages since I saw one that wasn't flying by, disappearing quickly; this one was drilling the lawn in front of the hotel, trying to find her next meal. Hoopoes have that typical big crest, that they can open in a fan-like way; I haven't seen her with the open crest, but won't complain! Photo taken in Santa Luzia, Portugal.
