Daily wildlife photography: the great crested grebe, Podiceps cristatus. Found a couple swimming in Lake Como, northern Italy. Their plummage is amazing in the summer, with vivid colours in the head and feathers that look like a crest. In the winter, they are a lot more discreet, but still a very elegant species.
