My wildlife photography: the great cormorant, Phalacrocorax carbo. These fellows are very easy to identify, given their size and black plummage, and also due to the fact that they tend to perch with their wings wide open, in order to help with the feathers drying. I haven't captured that typical pose here, but one of them was busy taking care of its plummage. They tend to be near bodies of water, and don't seem particulary shy around people; all the models in these photos…

My wildlife photography: the greater flamingo, Phoenicopterus roseus. This is the biggest flamingo species, and I'm fortunate to be able to see them in my country. Especially when they appear in flight, and in large groups. With this size and colours, there's no doubt about who they are! Photos taken in Tavira, Portugal.
My wildlife photography: the pied avocet, Recurvirostra avosetta. I tried to capture them in flight during one of my birdwatching sessions, and although almost all photos were blurred, still managed to get a few decent ones. Got them in all flight phases: in take off, mid-air, and landing! :)
Being able to ride to work a few days of the week is priceless, especially with a view like this. And with the current gas prices, apart from the health benefits, the savings are amazing: just riding for work 2 times a week, equals over 300 euros saving at the end of a year!
My wildlife photograhy: the black headed gull, Chroicocephalus ridibundus. Not only at the beach can we find seagulls: during a boat trip in the Bosphorus, a small flock escorted the boat during the whole ride! I realised later that tourists sent out pieces of bread to the air frequently; maybe they got used to the free snacks.
Some cats have a hard life... not this one. Our cat loves the new bed, and while everyone is working, she naps! Worst co-worker ever! 😁
The travel bug has been biting me more frequently last few weeks; probably because I haven't been getting enough travel fix these last couple years! Revisiting somo photos from my last vacations abroad: northern Italy. Lake Como and its surrounding little villages are definitely a must see!
It's been ages since I've visited R-Planet website again; back in the middle of the bull run, when Alien Worlds seemed a decent project and not the pile of crap it currently is, staking AW cards on R-Planet would generate Aether that could then be sold/ used in their project... whatever it was. Well apparently, there's now a limit to how much Aether you can claim, and if you want to increase that limit, you end up spending more Aether than the Aether you actually claim! Oh…
Although pack sales have been decreasing lately, I'm still very optimistic about Splinterlands future. And since you can get packs when doing quests, you never know if you hit a jackpot just by having some fun battling! I got a pack in my alt's daily quest, with an epic inside. Don't be that guy that is thinking in a few months from now... "why didn't I stacked as many cards as I could during all this time?" ;)
Just had a look at the BTC weekly chart. The last candle pattern is called an evening star: a green candle, a doji (meaning indecision), and a big red candle. Of course, the market will do what it wants... but with this pattern, especially moving below a resistance line, I'm expecting some pretty red days ahead!
My wildlife photography: the common starling, Sturnus vulgaris. Despite the name, it's not that common for me to spot them. Fortunately, in my last vacations in Açores Islands, there were plenty, with their fully spotted plummage. The beak was supposed to be yellowish, but these were either juveniles, or already in their winter coat; can't tell for sure!
My wildlife photography: the black winged kite, Elanus caeruleus. This bird of prey has beautiful grey, black and white plummage, and red eyes to go with it! I normally see them only in flight, but this time I was finally able to photograph one perching on the wires, probably scouting the fields searching for his next meal.
Things veterinarians do... making a swab and check at the microscope how bad is your throat infection. I don't know if I should see a doctor, or a psychologist! 😁😁
My wildlife photography: the red rumped swallow, Hirundo daurica. The colour pattern of this swallow makes it my favourite portuguese swallow. The red rump (that we cannot see on these photos) along with the reddish-brown colours in the head, does make them stand out from the other swallows! They're less common than the other species, but here they were the predominant species, gladly posing of photographs in the electric wires.
It took a little bit of grinding... but back to Champion III, just in time for the season rewards in about 5 hours! With the added bonus: claiming my daily quest already in the champion league gives me a few more chests... and inside, an epic and a legendary card, among others! It's very very hard not to like this game, if you put just a little effort into it. Good luck on those season rewards, fellow players!
My widlife photography: the common stonechat, Saxicola rubicola. If you see a small bird with a black head and an orange chest, perching in clear view, more often than not it's a male stonechat! Their distinct colour pattern and the fact they usually perch on top of bushes or poles, makes them easy to spot, and identify.
Splinterlands... just keeps rocking!!! I won a pack on the season rewards on my alt accout. I'm holding most of them until the legendary summoners come out, but can't resist opening the ones I'm gaining. Well, that's what I did; and inside, my 4th ever GOLD FOIL LEGENDARY!! These are the most valuable cards in game! And they can drop to anyone, so keep on battling and having fun; some times jackpots appear!
My wildlife photography: the common kestrel, Falco tinnunculus. It's way easier to see them hovering in air scouting the fields for prey, but finally got to find one perched, long enough to snap a photo. This one is a male, essily distinguished from females by their grey head.
Some days of sunny weather, seems Spring is finally coming to stay! Makes my ride to work even more enjoyable. And seems everyone was eager for the warm, beaches started to get crowded!
My wildlife photography: the eurasian hoopoe, Upupa epops. Found this cutie jumping like crazy on the grass, probably enjoying a good lunch. Their huge beak makes probing for bugs among the soil quite easy. This is one of the species I enjoy seeing the most, although I don't see them that frequently; fortunately for me, this one posed for quite some time!
Although I'm trying to hold on my Chaos Legion packs from Splinterlands, until the new summoners come out, I can't help but to open a couple every once in a while. And given the rewards I've been getting...it's really hard not to open the rest of them! Like today: 2 packs, one golden rare, one epic, one legendary!
Finally a few days of relax! Time to be a tourist in my own country. The weather is supposed to be shitty for the next days, but a little bit of rain won't stop me from doing some nature trails... I hope! 😁

One of the most beautiful nature trails on this getaway: from a river beach, following a small stream. Surrounded by green and hearing just the water and the birds singing. Too bad there wasn't time to do the full trail... but it's likely I'll go back someday!
I had a strange bug trying to post yesterday, so here goes second try: sharing an awesome nature trail starting in Louçaninha, a river beach. Probably my favourite in this little getaway, even thow I didn't had time to do the full trail. Surrounded by nature, and following a smal stream: doesn't get much better than this!

With this post, I don't know if I can call it "wildlife" photography:I did found it in the wild, roaming the fields with its chick and complete free... but it's a chicken!! Certainy not the kind of species I was hoping to find during a nature trail, but there it was. And they didn't looked that scared by my presence: they stopped for a little bit, looked at me, and off they went! :)
My wildlife photography: the house sparrow, Passer domesticus. Sparrow are present basically everywhere, and there are quite a few different species; this one is the most prevalent. And here, caught a male on a full concert, in a sunny morning. Males got that black coloration in the neck and upper breast, that females lack.
