USA Crypto evolution: The NYDFS published trade and custody Greenlist

The results of the current presidential elections will bring crypto adaptation in the USA closer than ever. It is known that Joe Biden is not against Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and the election of pro-bitcoin senators will improve the trust in cypto. New mesures will be adopted and will extend the letter from the United States Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) clarifying that national banks can take custody of cryptocurrency. The public letter dated 22nd of July 2020, in Washington, clarifies that any national bank can hold unique cryptographic keys and digital assets for their clients.

As a follow up of the clarification, the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) has published a list of approved cryptocurrencies which can be traded in the state of New York.  The Financial Services gave their approval for cryptocurrencies that can be listed for trade and custody. The license holders must inform the regulator before using any of the coins

According to the list, the following coins are included for listing and trading are: Bitcoin (BTC), Binance USD (BUSD), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Litecoin (LTC), Pax Gold (PAXG) and Paxos Standard (PAX).  Bitcoin (BTC), Binance USD (BUSD), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Ethereum (ETH), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Litecoin, Pax Gold (PAXG), Paxos Standard (PAX) and Ripple (XRP) are the coins that the NYDFS approved for custody. Surprisingly or not, USD Theter is not on the list, even is many stable coins made it in the Greenlist. Any of the above assets can be removed from the list or discontinue the whole list.
