There were so many times, especially in the couple years, where I didn't think I'd make it to five years as a music photographer. This industry is hard, that's the simple truth of it. Hard to stand out, hard to get paid. 10 years was always the goal when I started. Now it's 20.

16 years ago to the day, I took my camera to a concert on a whim. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine where my camera would take me. So thankful for the experiences I've had and the friendships I've made along the way. I was just a fan with a camera then. I still am now.

My best friend @bdproctor invited me to a show. I had no idea who the bands were, so I bought my Nikon D70 and 50mm f/1.4 along. BR-549 headlined and a little band called the Avett Brothers were the openers, playing to about 50 people. Here's an image from that first concert.
