It is the urinary excretion of protein more than normal Despite protein retaining properties of glomerular membrane,some protein passes into filtrate.In proximal tubules filtered proteins are almost totally reabsorbed. Types: A. Microproteinuria It is the condition characterized by increased urinary albumin excretion but insufficient to be positive on urinary dipstick test B. Microproteinuria Clinical types of proteinuria: 1. Asymptomatic Proteinuria 2. Moderate Proteinuria 3. Massive Proteinuria Causes of Proteinuria: Glomerulonephritis Pyelonephritis Nephroyic syndrome Urinary tract infection Preeclampsia Acute infection Leukaemia Consequences of proteinuria: Hypoalbuminemia Edema Hypotonic hypervolemia Hyperlipidemia Loss of transport proteins
