"তোমাকে ভালোবাসি মা" ছোটবেলার মায়ের কোলে শুয়ে গল্প শোনা আর হয় না। না খেয়ে ঘুমিয়ে পড়লে জোর করে মা এর তুলে ভাত খাওয়ানো, বৃষ্টিতে ভিজে খেলার জন্য বকুনি সব কিছুই বড়বেলার শহুরে জীবনে ভীষন মনে পড়ে। ফিরে যেতে ইচ্ছে করে না সেই ছোটবেলায়? যেখানে কোন কিছুর চাপ ছিল না,কোন কৃত্তিমতার ছোঁয়া সেখানে লাগে নি। শুধু ছিল অসীম ভালোবাসা। সবথেকে সুমধুর শব্দ মা। ‘মা’ হচ্ছেন একজন পূর্ণাঙ্গ নারী যার সাথে নাড়ীর সম্পর্ক থাকে। একটি সন্তান পৃথিবীতে আসার আগে তার মায়ের গর্ভে যত্নে বেড়ে উঠে। সৃষ্টিকর্তা মা আর তার সন্তানের মধ্যে সবথেকে মধুর সম্পর্কটি উপহার দিয়েছেন। সন্তান যত বড়ই হোক না কেন মায়ের কাছে সে তার আদরের ধন। অসুস্থ সন্তানের পাশে বসে দিনরাত সেবা করা, পরীক্ষার আগের রাতগুলোতে সন্তানের পাশে থাকা বা কন্ঠ শুনেই বুঝতে পারা যে আজ দিনটা ভালো যায় নি এইসব তো শুধু মায়েদের দ্বারা সম্ভব। সন্তানের সব আবদার তারা হাসি মুখে মেনে নেন। এ পৃথিবীতে সন্তানের জন্য জীবন বাজি রাখতে শুধু ‘মা’-ই পারেন। পত্রিকার পাতায় আমরা প্রায়ই দেখি সন্তানের জন্য মায়ের আত্মত্যাগের কথা। সম্প্রতি এক মা তার সন্তানদের খাবারের জন্য নিজের চুল বিক্রি করে দিয়েছেন। আগুন থেকে সন্তানকে বাঁচাতে যেয়ে নিজেও পুড়ে মারা গেছেন একজন মা। বড় হতে হতে আমরা মায়ের আত্মত্যাগের কথা ভুলে যায়। যেকোন কথাতে রাগ দেখাতে শুরু করি।অনেক সময়ই বিরক্তি প্রকাশ করি।দুঃখজনক হলেও এরকম সংবাদও দেখতে হয় সন্তানের হাতে মা খুন, বৃদ্ধ মাকে রাস্তায় ফেলে সন্তানের পলায়ন। আর বৃদ্ধাশ্রম তো আছে মাকে সংসারের বোঝা মনে হলে রেখে আসার জন্য। আচ্ছা মায়ের কাছে সন্তান তো সবসময়ই সবচেয়ে প্রিয় তাহলে সন্তানের কাছে মা বোঝার কারণ হয়ে যায় কেন? শুধুই বার্ধক্যের জন্য?
