Words with different terms and meanings There are over 100 languages in my country, yet about 7 to 8 are commonly used. Various languages have different words and meanings for the same word(s). Two days ago, kli4d asked in our Telegram Group what "Maniniyot" is. That time, I laughed hard since the word seemed dirty/maniac, but he explained that the definition of the word is "Photographer." I asked my friend in chat, one of the photographers in our news/gazette organization in high school before (I was an illustrator for editorial and comics at that time) if "Maniniyot" was another word for a photographer. He replied and said yes - it was a Cebuano word. WTH. Still, I can't get over on this word, and when I mentioned it to my co-workers last night, practically everyone knew what Maniniyot meant (some of them are from Bisaya or have Bisayan blood). Then my team leader suddenly interrupted our conversation and asked me, "R, Magaling ka bang Maniyot?" We all chuckled because the term has a different meaning (like you're a Gigolo or good in bed). Here are some of the list of words (Some words are vulgar/humor or censored) 1. Langgam (Ant) - Bird in Bisaya 2. Pako (Nail) - Wings in Bisaya 3. N*pple - Sitaw (Beans) in Ilocano 4. Bato (Rock) - Bato (Shabu Drugs) 5. Sumbrero (Cap) - Shorpit in Cavite 6. Kadiyot - Sandali lang (Wait, for a while) in Bisaya 7. Ipis (Cockroach) - Kukaratsa/Kuratsa in Aklan 8. Gubat (Forest) - War in Cebuano 9. Bangaw (Big Flies) - Rainbow in cebuano 10. L*b*g (Lust) - Confused in Cebuano 11. Kamot (Scratch) - Hand in Bisaya 12. Upa (Rent) - Copulation in Cebuano (It's UPA, not OPPA) 13. Pintas (Insult) - Beauty in Ilocano 14. Libang (Entertain yourself) - Defecate in Bisaya 15. Bao (Coconut Shell) - Daga (Mouse) in Ilocano and Lady Part (YKWIM) in Pangasinan 16. Bati (Greet/Reconcile) - Ugly in Bisaya. There's another meaning of this word in Tagalog. 17. Boto (Vote) - Human Part in Bisaya (YKWIM Again) *These words are censored - simply look up the meaning in Tagalog. 18. Uncle (Tito) in Cebuano and Bust in Ilocano 19. Mabagal (Slow) in Ilocano 20. Drunk (Lasing) in Bicolano (Correct me if there's wrong with the list) On this platform, there are many great "Maniniyot". Salute to all of you.
