When I went to our local market last week, I passed by the fruit and vegetable section. There were lots of fruits on display... perhaps because of the approaching new year. They were so beautiful to look at which delighted me to take snaps!😄 First, I'd like to share this photo of Calamansi fruits with you. They look so green and fresh... I bought 1 kilo for only 60 Philippine pesos (about $1.20 US dollars). Calamansi is always present in our kitchen because it is our favorite dipping sauce, along with soy sauce and red chili. When we got sick after the new year, it was fortunate that we still had some Calamansi left to make for a hot lemonade... You see, Calamansi is full of Vitamin C and antioxidants, both of which can help fight the common cold and flu viruses. We've also used it to gargle with warm water and salt for relief of sore throats. We drank Calamansi juice while taking our cold and flu medications, of course. And it's amazing to think that we've recovered from our illness in just two or three days! 😃 However, our supply of Calamansi had all been consumed so I returned to the market today to buy. But I was surprised to discover that none of the stalls had any more of it. The vendors explained that they had run out of Calamansi because so many people had purchased them! I heard a few days ago that the pharmacies were depleted of cold and cough medicines because they were all sold out! People flocked and bought them in bulk out of panic due to the news of Covid surge and Omicron. It's no surprise that due to the high demand for cold treatment, Calamansi has also run out! Yay!😪 I'm glad that my story for today has been up to date, but it was caught up on a Friyay! 😁😆 This has just come to mind, "desperate times call for desperate measures." An expression lifted from one of the Aphorisms of Hippocrates, the father of Medicine which states that "For extreme diseases, extreme methods of cure, as to restriction, are most suitable.” Thanks for reading guys!
