Here are pictures of roses that I photographed three days ago while visiting a local market. I was surprised to see a plant vendor in a small corner with lots of flowering plants. A potted rose plant with many buds costs 250 Philippine pesos, or USD 5. It's quite pricey, but I believe it's worth it. As you can see, the flowers are multicoated and come in a variety of colors. These are miniature rose bushes that are hybrid tea roses. They are multicolored because they are hybrids or the result of cross-breeding between two types of roses. This is what I liked best about it because it shows off a variety of lovely colors. They are also small, growing only 15 to 30 inches tall, and are perennials. Their fragrance is similar to that of brewed tea, which is why they are referred to as hybrid 'tea.' Miniature roses love the sun, so they thrive in tropical climates like the Philippines... They're also hardy and have long-lasting blooms, and aren't easily destroyed by pests. Furthermore, their petals are edible and can be used in salads or as a garnish in dishes. Aside from beautifying the home, they can also improve one's mood. I believe this miniature rose is a source of positive vibes for the coming year! Its character is an inspiration in that, despite its petite size, it richly blooms all year through and can thrive in the harshest condition!
