Overtime, over!
Courage? Determination? Do I have these traits? I am actually working for an overtime tonight for two hours before my regular shift later at 3:00 AM. Unfortunately, someone from the office called me to log out as there is no available overtime as of the moment. I felt sad as overtime is one of the factor that can help me to get a greater pay. It saddens me, to be honest. But, I always make sure to look at the brighter side of the situation to avoid stress. Instead of getting sadder, I make sure to convert it to something positive, like "Yes. No more overtime, I can rest longer!". And that is way much better. And yes, since there's no available overtime as of the moment I decided to write an article tonight. I wanted to be more productive. I wanted to share something about my work. BPO is my first job. Its my first time. Working in such environment has never been an easy task. If there is another term for difficult, it would be it. June 4, 2019! It was the date I was hired as a Call Center Agent, that was the day after my birthday and I consider it as a gift given to me. I am grateful enough to land to a decent job. At first, I am thinking and always asking myself, "Can I do this?", "I am ready for this?" For almost one week, that was the thoughts I have in mind. Why? I am away from my family. I am in Cebu and they are in Leyte. I am by myself trying to explore things and discover. It was never been easy. As a girl that was used to have a mom everyday to prepare with and being away in a snap of a finger just to look for a job is heartbreaking. Literally, it was. But as I always say, I always make sure to keep the situation positive. Let's make the story short, as days goes by I used to be with myself. I get to used to the new environment I am in. I was able to meet wonderful people, amazing and awesome people in the company. With them, I was able to surpass the doubts I have the first time I took this job. Working in this environment is very challenging. I am not a good English speaking person, I do not have an accent, I am not fluent. It was difficult talking to someone from from another country and help them resolve their concerns. But what keeps me going? Its the responsibility I have, its the goals I have, its the dream I am planning to reach. No dreams, no plans, no wants that we can get just in a blink of an eye. We need to work for it. We need to feel pressured, we need to get tired, we need to feel exhausted. I AM THE BREADWINNER of the family and I am proud of that. The courage to continue because someone is depending on you makes you stronger. I am determined to continue to work despite the hardships. Despite the difficulties. I took me a lot of time to have this courage, but I know soonest it will be paid off. It will not be only my dreams that will come true, but also my mom's and my brother's dream. It's always okay to feel pressured as it help you be more productive and to finish things out, but make sure to balance everything and look for something that can peace out your mind. At the age of 22, I wanted to be more courageous and determined; not just for me but for the rest of family. It's like hitting two birds in one stone. 🤞💜
