Yesterday, the media was all about Lionel Messi and his magical goal against Man City. He was even said to be the best player on the pitch by a country mile by some. Whoscored rating showed that at least two players from PSG had far better games than Messi but he is the one the whole world talked about. Today, the trend continued. Ronaldo had a 6.2 rating. He only had a better game than Varane with 6.1. Nine Man U players had higher ratings than him yet the media won't let us rest about Ronaldo clinching a last minute victory to celebrate his record. No matter how terrible these guys play their simplest of actions will be magnified to make it look like they owned the game. Though they've earned it via years of top level performance I only pity their teammates who always have to stay in their shadows. I reserve more pity for Neymar who left Barca to escape Messi's shadow only for Messi to come with his huge shadow to PSG yet again.
