When Celtic dominated Scottish football neutrals rarely watched the Scottish League. The discussion before the league season started was by how many points Celtic will lead the second placed team and will they win it by March. Scottish football suffered because Celtic were always bashed in Europe and as the major representative of Scotland neutrals didn't see any reason to follow Scottish football. The incredible rise of superstar Gerrard and Rangers changed that course. A league win for Rangers after all these years endeared people to Scottish football once again. The nature of Rangers dominance was telling and then, it leads to another problem - over expectation. Watching the two flag bearers of Scottish football crushed in Europe last night is an apt reminder. Rangers had done well to awaken the competition, but the league is not where we assumed it already is - at least, not yet.
