Couple of weeks to the opening of the January transfer window and Rudiger is yet to sign a new contract at Chelsea. When this saga started I assumed it's going to end in no time. After all, Rudiger now plays regularly and is quite popular in the dressing room. So giving him what he wants in the form of a mouth watering contract is the right thing to do. As a free agent Rudiger will command hefty wages as he is one of the best centre backs around right now. If he is not tied up by January he may sign a pre-contract and move to any club he wants for free next summer. With Madrid snooping around Rudiger it will be Chelsea's loss if he is allowed to leave. Getting a proven, world class defender in the market is quite expensive right now.

I don't see Chelsea giving him what he wants. They might go as high as 200k but 400k as touted on the media might be a bridge too far. But come to think of it how good is Rudiger really. Would he perform that well in a back four system?
He has played well for Germany in a back four system so that shouldn't be an issue. There is no way Chelsea is paying him £400k per week though. It's just impossible.
Totally impossible. Funny enough I still have that opinion he will still be at Chelsea come next season. I see a middle ground in their negotiations.
I've always believed he won't leave but recent events with Ander Herrera and David Alaba has convinced me that anything is possible. The negotiation is already getting too long and annoying.
