Sometimes we need an update to an OS or application to be able to work better and faster. After I finished repairing the pump 6 hours later I did an update on my smartphone, and the process was quite fast, about 30 minutes, and try to have the battery above 50% before doing that because if it is below that the OS can crash.

I haven't updated my Android phones OS for almost 2 years now. I'm not having any issues

  Soon or later they need to be updated sometimes the bug are found in old OS.

    True. Usually it's an app that doesn't support old OS so we have to update
