Things I Love To Do During Rainy Weather I woke up because of the chilly breeze coming from the open window. I soon began thinking of taking a leave of absence so I can extend my relationship with my bed and my pillows. I have no idea that today will be rainy weather, which is very much welcome in the middle of summer heat. But I can't afford to take an abrupt leave of absence. I have a lot of pending tasks. So leaving my bed turned into a bittersweet scenario.  Rainy weather imbibes a sentimental mood. Traveling in a bus or inside a car while it rains feels like an instant music video. But moving out of the vehicle is a different scenario. Hassle! I love the cold weather but I hate getting wet because of the rain. There are other things I love to do when it rains. And I believe you can identify with some of these. Listening to sentimental music Rain reinforces emotions! It's a perfect time for love songs and relaxing music. Whether you're just lying in bed or hands-on with a project, listening to music on a rainy day is a mood! I listen to gospel music. Hillsong Darlene Zschech era is my favorite. *Side note: I can't believe their songs are more than two decades old now! I grew up listening to their worship songs and their timeless message!* I also listen to pop songs. The songs from NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Boyz2Men - boyband songs from my generation still tickle my ear just like when I was still a teenager. I also listen to Linkin Park and scream internally (because I can't do it in the office, for obvious reasons). But because of Chester Bennington's demise years ago, listening to their music feels different now. Another guilty pleasure is when I listen to The Script! I could listen to their song all day, especially "The Man Who Can't Be Moved", "Faith and Science" and "Nothing".  Reading a Book Another thing I love to do when it rains is to browse my mini collection of books, be it physical or virtual, and read something. A chapter or two will do, but when I am caught up in the mood to devour books, I can finish a book in one sitting. This rarely happens now, but still, I love the idea that my books are always available when I need them. Books are like friends.  Sleeping Who wouldn't love to snuggle with a comfortable pillow while enjoying the chilly weather? When I was still in grade school, I love it whenever it rains and the morning news will declare class suspensions. It's a celebration! And it means extra time to sleep! Most especially now as an adult, in very rare occurrences of work suspensions, as long as everyone's safe - because of the time work suspensions are due to inclement weather, sleep is very much welcome! Eating my Comfort Foods Arroz caldo, champorado or hot mami, paired with hot coffee or hot choco - perfect food for rainy weather! In times like these, food tastes different. Perhaps it is the presence of the family that makes our rainy day food tastier. Or the unhurried pace we enjoy because we do care for a moment about our office or school duties. So we chew our food better, we appreciate our environment better and enjoy our company better. We are still months away from the actual rainy season. What we are experiencing is just a break from the summer heat we are experiencing lately. Somehow it helped lessen the discomfort. Unfortunately, some areas experience flash floods and heavy downpours. Indeed, the effects of climate change are very much evident now as it was before. Keep safe, folks!
