Culture and Traditions of Igorot

Igorot is a primitive ethnic group in the Philippines. The Igorots' culture and traditions are popular because of their clothes, living among the root crops, and the many prayers for marriage, travel, and farming. ***The Culture and Tradition of Communication Models*** There are six ethnographic linguistic groups in the areas inhabited by the Igorots: ***Bontoc, Ibaloi, Ifugao, Isneg (or Apayao), Kalinga, and Kankanaey***. It is trying to preserve the Government to preserve their race. ***The Culture and Tradition of Costume Igorots*** We are familiar with their clothing. In their attire, women wear colorful skirts or long skirts, necklaces, and pots. The men wear long strips of handwoven loincloth. It is important for them to have "***tattoos***" on the body as they symbolize the bravery and reputation of one of their society. They are very careful in choosing modern clothes. Since they were raised they would love their custom more. ***The Culture and Tradition of Occupational Igorots*** There is just a simple lifestyle like: planting and harvesting trading howling hunting sale weaving farming Root Crops which are their main food source are their own crops such as sweet potatoes, corn, potatoes, carrots, evenings, and fruits found in the forest. Highlands and other natural resources are a major part of their lives. The value of their contribution to the world is the Banaue Rice Terraces. ***The Culture and Tradition of Religious Belongs to Religious Beliefs*** Like other ethnic groups, the Igorots are also rich in rituals. Many of their prayers are about abortion, marriage, and procreation. There are parts in it that spirits think they are saving in one. In addition, warfare, worship devotion, career choice, or travel have a list of prayers or orientations that need to be done through their leader. Although the Philippines was conquered by the Spanish for a long time, the Igorot retained their independence. The reason is that the area is mountainous. They are prevented from seizing them or at least persuading them. ***Origin of the Igorots*** The word Igorot was named by the Spaniards in this ethnic group as referring to tribes they did not colonize in Central Luzon. It comes from "Godot" or mountain chain, the origin of the word, and added by the prefix "I" which means "live in". They live in Cordillera, on the island of Luzon. There are six provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) located. These are: Abra Apayao Benguet Ifugao Kalinga Mountain Province The Igorots are one of our ancestors. They lived here in our country long before the invaders arrived. Their traditions and customs remain to this day. Some of them are well-educated, but they still maintain the traditional culture. By now, however, many of the young Igorot are now attending school. And some of them are graduating from high school. So it is hoped that their career choice will be in the stream of modernization. Some of the graduates are returning to assist their families in further enriching their land. ***Always Remembered this:*** ***As a people, we must accept, recognize, and value the culture and beliefs of every Asian nation as a sign of our respect.*** ***It is important that we recognize them and respect them so that foreigners also respect the culture we have.*** ***Our Cultures may be different but even then we must be united by embracing each other's Culture.*** I hope that you enjoy it and learn from it.
