THE BOILING FROG Have you ever heard about the so-called 'The Boiling Frog Syndrome'? Here's the synopsis of its story: If you put the frog in a boiling water, it will jump out immediately. But, if you put the frog in a tap water and just gradually turn up the temperature of the water, the frog will remain there. The frog will adjust its body temperature in accordance with the rising temperature of the water. It will not jump out no matter how hot the temperature it's in. However, as the water reach its boiling point, the frog is not able to adjust anymore and so, it decided to jump. Unfortunately, it is also no longer able to jump, because it has already lost all its strengths by adjusting with the water's temperature. Consequently, the frog dies. ***This story is often used as a metaphor for the inability of people to decide when to adjust and face the situation, and when to jump out of it. Madalas itong mangyari sa mga abusive relationship. May mga abusive people kasi na umpisa palang nagpapakita na ng mga traits ng pagiging abusive (like the way they think, they act and they talk) pero still tinatanggap at minamahal pa rin natin sila. Some people are already aware that they might be entering an abusive relationship, pero go pa rin sila...kasi nga nanghihinayang sila sa pinagsamahan, kasi mahal nila, kasi akala nila magbabago pa. Kaya ang resulta nasasaktan sila, physically and emotionally.
