Another colossal monument located in the heart of Rome, the Shrine of the Fatherland is dedicated to King Victor Emmanuel who was the first king of unified Italy. This large stone monument is located in close proximity to the Colosseum and the Pantheon. In front of the monument there is a large bronze statue of Emmanuel and many other stone sculptures. The front facade has a row of ornate columns and is also highly decorated. At the base of the monument there is also an interesting museum dedicated to the unification of Italy and the first years of its history.
